So Braves are playing at Philadelphia and in a rain delay. Naturally I go to the Phillies Twitter to see when first pitch is expected and am hit with a rainbow display of ph aggotry that would make a gay parade look tame.

LMAO what a bunch of ph aggots.

Well your post was definitely cringe. They signed him to a minor league contract after the Durham Bulls (...) released him in March? He hasn't played in a game in the majors since when, but the Braves signed him back anyway, then some genius actually decided to have his dad throw out a first pitch on father's day? Then he was DFA'd for obvious reasons?
Yeah this is simply about the Braves having no class. lol
srsly lol
And I like Culberson

It definitely is a cool story. But it's not an epic story.
No, for something to be an epic story, just spitballing off the top of my head here, it would probably be something like having a 10.5 game lead that you see evaporate with the culmination of being swept to lose the division tiebreaker with 6 games left in the year and winding up in a Wild Card spot only to completely fail to regroup and fall in the wild card round of the playoffs as an overwhelming favorite after winning 101 games on the season.
Now that is an epic story. Don't you think?
Alas I think I'll just have to settle for a couple cool stories and dream of one day being able to tell an epic story.
Didn't the Yankees have an epic meltdown against their division rival with a historic collapse themselves? Albeit that one was in the playoffs and not the regular season. But don't sell the Mets short bro. You have more in common with the Yankees than you might think!"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. Giants on fire, 2/3 over Arizona and trending positively with a meh lineup and a ton of new people.
I watch the games and am like who the hell is that? There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

Midseason Awards
NL Rookie of the Year - Corbin Carroll
You could really argue this one is already wrapped up to be honest.
NL Cy Young - Clayton Kershaw
Lots of guys in the running for this one. You could get 5 guesses midseason and still might not pick the eventual winner.
NL MVP - Ronald Acuna
I almost want to say Luis Arraez for the simple fact of how much he means to the Marlins this year. Guys like Acuna, Carroll, and Freeman who are also in the running have much more lineup support. I'll stick with Acuna, but Arraez is having a special year.
AL Rookie of the Year - Josh Jung
Not quite as certain as the NL award but also a wide margin for Jung
AL Cy Young - Shane McLanahan
I'll give him the midseason award because he's deserved it. But I'll also go out on a limb and say Gerrit Cole ends up being the one to win it.
AL MVP - Shohei Ohtani
If we're only allowed to consider hitting and fielding for MVP then it's Ohtani. If I'm also allowed to factor in pitching then it's not even a debate. The rest of the AL is having trash seasons relative to what you'd expect an MVP to have."One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. I was actually trying to cheer the Mets fan in here up with a compliment that they have something in common with the Yankees as well. It was the only thing I could think of that they have in common with you guys though. It sure as sh*t isn't winning in any form or fashion

After today Braves will be 8-1 against the Marlins. They'd literally only be back 1 game from the Braves if they didn't have to play them head to head lmao savage

Rays are fool’s gold. Braves are the best team in baseball by a wide margin. Reds probably second best right now tbh. I’d love to see a Reds-Braves NLCS. Elly De La Cruz would probably have won NL ROY if he had been ready a month sooner.
Not a troll job, some teams just own other teams no matter how good or bad those two teams are against the rest of the league. The 2003 Astros no-hit the Yankees FFS. Back when Houston sucked and the Yankees were actually good. All it takes is Mookie Betts, Steph Curry, and Joe Burrow all sitting in the same car in order for one drunk driver to make the world a significantly better place.

Reds are playing really well and on a good stretch right now but I don't see them sustaining it. The hot streak put them in a division race they were otherwise buried in. By the time September rolls around they'll be 4+ back in the Central is my guess.
I still think the Dodgers are the team to worry about in the NL.
Overall I think Baltimore is probably the team I want to play the least in the playoffs. The Rays have not been that impressive since their hot start. They're only 5 games over .500 since mid April. That really doesn't strike fear into anyone tbh. The start will likely carry them to an AL East crown but they can be beaten and probably will be come October.
Finally the Braves are the clear favorite. I don't think we've been the clear favorite in 25 years. They better f*cking win too."One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. Poor Miami lol
Imagine nearly matching the Braves win for win against all other 28 teams in the MLB but repeatedly being torched by them head to head."One day I won't be able to lift any more. As Scherzer once said, there are 4 seasons in baseball.
Spring training, pre all star game, post all star game, and October or the playoffs.
We are in quarter 2 of 4, so lets wait and see before we get hard for our teams even though they are trending in the right direction.Last edited by x-trainer ben; 10-12-2023 at 06:25 AM.

There are more Braves fans in the Tampa Bay stadium than there are Rays fans.
I've come to expect this with Marlins park, but lmao at the Rays who have largely been very successful still being another home to Braves fans."One day I won't be able to lift any more. I always assumed they simply shortened it to Rays but still considered themselves stingrays, never even crossed my mind the name change could be a twist toward rays as in sunshine rays.
Did a quick search and it turns out it's meant to represent both somewhat intentionally now.
Originally, Tampa Bay ownership wanted to name the team the Tampa Bay Stingrays, but there was a problem with that name: it was already taken. As the idea started to come to fruition, the team was informed that the name was already trademarked by a winter league team in Hawaii.
Instead of trying to fight their way into getting the Stingrays name, team ownership decided to go in another direction, going with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Though the "Devil" part of the name was because of the rays found in the Tampa Bay area, some people had issues with the word in the team’s name.
After nearly a decade as the Devil Rays, and countless phone calls pleading with the team to change the name, the team's new ownership, led by current owner Stuart Sternberg, decided that it was best to change the name to the Tampa Bay Rays. That change happened after the 2007 season.
Interestingly enough, however, the nickname is a reference to the rays of sunshine in Florida (which is also known as the Sunshine State) and not just the fish. The Rays’ current burst logo represents that, but the team also doesn’t shy away from the fish, either, as the Rays Touch Tank in right-center field is one of the most popular attractions at Tropicana Field."One day I won't be able to lift any more.
