The real question is: can a casual gamer beat Sekiro.
Playing sekiro is a lot like playing a fighting game. You have to be frame-perfect for long periods of times and memorize attack patterns.
I wouldn't recommend it to casuals. Although they could probably get through it slowly and painstakingly. I have yet to beat the final boss but I've heard he's the hardest fromsoft boss.

I'd consider myself a casual gamer. Hated all DS games because I got nuked right away in all of them, couldn't get past the first boss. Repeat and get frustrated, delete game.
Finally thought I'd give a shot to Bloodborne. Did some research, started getting better at mechanics. Still died a lot, frustrated, but then I beat the first boss. And I started to sort of...get it. Understood that it isn't like spam buttons and have great gear, you actually have to have strategy and the right build. Went back and started working through DS3 and got fairly far. Sekiro I hated because it was TOO technical and the parry mechanics drove me nuts. Dodging and timing I understand.
Have been on Elden Ring since December and absolutely love it. Do I scream at my screen? Hell yes. Do I suck? Yup. But it's a simple thing to level up, take on a boss and then on the 6th time you manage to pull out that one hit that kills them before you quaff your last flask and fist pump. And the story is awesome. Variety of enemies is great. Different regions is mindblowing. Length is also incredible. So I'd highly recommend it to any casual gamer with a notation that you need to be super patient and learn what you're doing.

Bumping because I beat sword saint isshin a few days ago. Took me maybe 3-4 hours of learning before I beat that azz. I only play Sekiro on the weekends so my routine was wake up really early and make 5-10 attempts, no more. I didn't want to beat my head against the wall so I kept myself motivated and fresh from session to session, basically treating each session like a workout.
I didn't use any cheesey strats like the hitting and running which I've seen a lot on youtube. But I did use youtube to learn how to counter his most annoying attacks. I was pretty surprised when I beat him finally because at that point I was still dying a lot to him in his second phase. The only time I had gotten to his third phase I got wasted by his lightning, because I forgot how to time the reversal. Also, I would randomly get wasted by Genichiro who IMO is way more annoying than ISS's first phase, because he has more mix-ups.
Definitely a hard boss, possibly the single hardest boss I've ever beaten in any game. I would almost say that he's a bit TOO hard. I actually had to relearn the game, and he's the final boss. Oh well. 8/10 game overall. Onto Elden Ring.

I think about going back to Sekiro every now and then but I never do. Last boss I beat was guardian ape and then I just stopped playing. Outside of fishing for parries in Bloodborne, I never parry in From games. It’s just not a play style I enjoy.

You're not missing out on that much tbh. Sekiro is basically an action/boss-rush game. You play it for the boss battles. There's no RPG elements, no huge detailed beautiful maps, or anything extraneous.
I'm playing elden Ring now and IMO it's a much more well-rounded game. Just lots of things to do, basically a constant dopamine rush generator. Sekiro was basically anti-dopamine: the game.

The whole fight, if you're fighting him head on and not running away is like 12 minutes long. The adrenaline as you get closer and closer to beating him is crazy.
Sekiro is From's best game. It's literally perfect. Elden Ring is great, but I was disappointed that certain mechanics didn't make it from Sekiro.Last edited by Godfrd824; 01-26-2023 at 06:04 PM.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Stacking up points in tanky stats, looking up guides that show where some great weapons/armour/spells/flasks are, leveraging co-op summoning for every boss fight so better gamers can tackle the boss or help distract them. Yeah I think so tbh.
You could argue that casual gamers wouldn't look up guides, but that's their choice, it'd make the experience easier. And some "quests" are confusing AF without a guide.i7-14700k
