Another good one. Here's a discussion, pre-exhaustion.
Last Friday I deadlifted 405 x 3, it's been 5 days, what to do with the Dead Lift, I shouldn't go heavier and not hit a rep PR.
So I hit a volume PR, instead of doing 2 sets with the same poundage, I did a medium effort pre-exhaust set, then added 10# for more reps, only rest was 1 minute, the fatigue was just starting to hit me.
Notice rep 1 is the hardest for me, rep five looked like nothing...................
370 x 5-
1 minute, added 10, 380 x 4-
Cheat curl, 143.5-

Yea man. You looked tight (er) definitely. The shake is normal, but it looked like you were pushing your shoulders into the bench, good drive, vs just shaking. Nice work!
No impressive lifts, but instead of my normal 2 fasting days, I ate up over the weekend, in a pretty big way. Friends came over, so beer, brisket, and all kinds of other stuff. Just said screw it and over ate a bunch.
I gained about 8lbs over the weekend, and was filled out nicely for tonights workout. It flattened me out, but I felt 'bulkier' for sure. Actually felt kinda big (for me). This just shows the illusion of losing weight. My stable, non carbed up weight it about 203 right now. I hit 211 over the weekend, in full fed state. Not sure what I was today, but can definitely feel the extra food.
Still leaning out slowly thought using the fasting method.

IKR right? I would never have detected such fluctuations before, but now I definitely can tell: I'm up to about 206 so my slow bulk finally seems to be working! I see more of it in my shoulders, but a lil bit in the belly too

This week is my final deload before IPL worlds: after this week I'll have 4 training weeks to hit it hard, then the meet week and we'll see how this ole dude does!
Deload always feels wierd - I was walking out 330 which still felt a bit heavy, then the squats just felt so light. All good though - focus is on form and it felt pretty good.

The coolest thing is when I started to lean out years ago, I realized what was hiding underneath. That is a compliment I get from guys in the gym who have been around a while. This is I have good 'density' and 'muscle maturity'. I will take anything at this point. I have not really changed a scale in 7 years and just improvising 'quality' is all I can do. I also know that at this point for me, just staying 'in shape' is a reasonable goal.
I think I am going to finally find the combination that I am willing to endure to being my physique to the point I have always wanted. That is getting super lean. Fasting is working amazingly well, and very little 'pain'. Since I have no set schedule, I am just going to keep going where I am going and see where I end up. If I threw in cardio, who knows?. But for now I still am seeing small changes weekly with little effort. (just not eating)

Hey keeping at it is the main thing.... have you been having problems at lockout? I notice you've been doing quite a few elevated deads... I personally do more deficit deads than elevated deads, but mostly you need to identify where you need work and adjust your variations accordingly.

I’ve done deficits off a block long time ago, I used to squat the weight, mistake. I’ll have to now though using high hips and flat back. My bar is actually an inch deficit as is..........
Btw after your meet you should try a conventional elevated pull about 2 inches high and tell me if it feels harder? but you can’t use that flexy bar, use a regular olyimpic generic bar with no spring.

I can give it a shot! I did conventional for most of the first half of this training cycle and it was a change for sure It felt pretty good up until about the 450-460 range and then my natural mechanics favoring sumo kick in. I haven't tried off a high block though.
yesterday - still doing deload so went light on the snatch grip and that was it. Looking at my video it looks more like snatch RDLs lol but I think that's ok given that it was a deload.

Flex, looking good to me, beastly!
Here is the only vid I took today, I know most of you don't like behind the neck pressing, but this was a staple in "the king" training, and that is Ken Patera.
This is the first time ever doing reps in this and the first time doing this in over a year, a little push, but I managed 159# x 3 after missing the 3rd rep in this vid......

One of the staples of the >35 was Cmoore. Miss that dude. Always put up black and white filtered pics. Never felt I could get away with it. Snapped a few in the gym tonight and felt this had that 'old school' look that I used to wish some day I might have. Thick a$$ waist from years of heavy training, but I dont think anyone will say DYEL....
