football (not soccer) requires far more than just athleticism unlike the NBA or NFL , size and strength is often irrelevant and you can be great without speed....what you call ability does not translate to football , look at messi, maradonna , modric and iniesta all small and very light but total masters of their craft....

I wouldnt swap the current English squad for anyone right now, only two set piece goals conceded in 7 games.. but we have an extremely defensively minded manager who by getting to the final we are unfortunately stuck with at least until after the world cup next year.

You arent going to win much with 7 out of 11 starting players whose first thought is to punt the ball up the other end of the pitch, but we are legitimately amongst the top half dozen teams in the world and have been for a while
