Friday - Light 2 mile ruck and some foam rolling/recovery work.
Saturday - 10 mile ruck carrying odd stuff with some friends. 40# ruck and carried items from 80# to 40# over the 10 miles. Felt great this whole session, the 80 felt comfortable.
Sunday - Light 2 mile recovery ruck.
Monday - 75 ruck hang cleans, 65 ruck presses, 65 ruck front squats, 2 mile ruck before work. Then hit a few sets of dumbbell bench presses and lat pulldowns at work.

Tuesday - Off day.
Wednesday - Ruck + sandbag bear crawl drags and ruck + sandbag carries. Did 300ft of sandbag drags while bear crawling (60# sandbag, 30# ruck) and just over a mile of rucking with the 60# sandbag (90# total) in about 40 minutes. This one sucked a bit. Walked the dog later on that night with the ruck on for another mile.

Hi Grouchy
Nice to see you still working hard!
I thought of your journal the other day; my son is trying to talk me into doing the Tour Mont Blanc, its 103 mile trek through the French Italian, and Swiss Alps..30000ft elevation gain. To make it affordable we would have to camp most days and cook our own meals. I would assume light we would be yomping 40lbs worth of kit each. May have to pay more attention to your journal if we actually get past the covid crap and get to it. Might do some overnighters later on this year just to see how we feel about it.
In your opinion how many kms would you say a fit person packing 40lbs over the hill and dale could do in a day without destroying themselves?
Keep up the good work! Please record my time/reps if I pass out

Hi CPW,
I'd say assuming 8 hours of casual walking per day to allow plenty of time to rest and recuperate, and allowing for the elevation, an average of 12-15 miles per day (20-25km) would not be unrealistic. If you have a week of good weather and are prepared for it, I can see a week being very doable. There is ultra light hiking gear and lists that allow you to carry much less weight too which would be useful.

The usual great work continues in here. Nice job Grouchy! I like the dog walk with ruck. I've been doing the same thing with skateboarding when I get home from work. The kids think I'm just cruising around with them in the street for an hour. I'm really burning another 200 calories. You guys let me know how that 103 mile hike goes.

Fri 04/23 - Just recovery work and yoga.
Sat 04/24 - Group workout session with the club. Aptly called "The Reaper", we had to cut it a bit short due to time constraints. Thu 05/13 - Cut this one a bit short due to a strange feeling in my left biceps. Stopped immediately as I didn't want to push it any further. 1-10 pyramid of navy seal burpees and chin-ups (55 reps of each, including 165 push ups and 110 mountain climbers), then it was supposed to be 9-1 of weighted push-ups and TRX rows for double reps but I only got the first set in of those before I called it quits. I also ran a hilly half mile twice during this session (~200' elevation total for the mile).
