ok. I ask because i'm not sure people are using it to argue we have the virus down, or have imunity yet. I think it's pointing out that wayyy more people have it than whats being reported, which in turn brings the death rate down. All initial findings obviously, so it's interesting.

My question is why is NYC so bad, when something like LA or Bay Area who now probably have the same amount of cases didn't have such bad chit show NYC had

Single-Family homes basically do not exist in NYC, and dependence on public transit there is massive. For millions of people in NYC, this is life:

-You wake up in a building that several hundred other people are waking up in. Your air conditioning and heating system is run through the same system as these hundreds of other people. You walk out into a hallway with 5 doors for other residents on it on your floor and get in an elevator or on the stairs. Getting to street level you encounter 15 people you never talk to, but can identify by their face.
-You walk outside and encounter literally hundreds of people. You walk to the subway and are in a metal tube with hundreds more. You're all breathing the same air, feet apart from each other. You have no personal space. You get to work, and work in a crowded space. If you work in a public-facing business, you likely encounter hundreds of people per day.
-You repeat your subway trip home.

You've probably been within 6 feet of 1000 people, specifically 1000 different people, every day.

Contrast that with LA, where you'll likely take a car to work and interact with 0 people. You're more likely to live in a single family home (small and overpriced, but still single-family) or an open-air apartment in an apartment complex. In a public facing environment, you probably interact with hundreds of people a day, but that depends on the specific work you do and where.

Sourcing is an issue as well. Flights from Europe to NY (LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark) are incredibly common, those to LA or Seattle are significantly less so. West Coast interaction with China was shut off January 31st. NYC interaction with Europe wasn't shutdown until mid March.

More people, with more daily interactions, with less ability to separate, with more seeding from other countries, and you have more spread. Combine that with De Blasio and NY Councilmembers telling people to gather in large groups in early March and you get what we're seeing.

Had a crazy dream last night that I was walking around down town, pocket carrying a Glock 43 without a holster. Kept having my hand in my pocket, finger on the trigger, and would apply just a little bit of pressure, and would get that crazy thrill feeling of doing it. Then I'd just keep adding pressure until I was about 4 lbs of pressure and would start tripping out after feeling like I just got crazy lucky that it didn't go off.

Woke up with my heart rate at 200BPM. What the funk!

It’s BS. SK says he’s fine. 90% sure NK and China put that rumor out to cause more instability and to cause the markets to drop again today. Futures were up until the NK news came out.

North Korea's junta would have to decide between reintegration and finding someone who isn't a relative of the family to assume leadership, or allowing his sister to take the mantle.

It really depends on how hungry they are for power, what assurances S. Korea would offer, and whether or not you can use his death as a road into unification. 75 years of communism is hard to break.

Basement in ammo cans with silica packs. How good your storage needs to be depends on how much ammo you're storing and for how long. Ammo in ammo cans in good conditions will last longer than loose ammo in bad conditions.

I've got 4050 rounds of Hornady 5.56 in taped up boxes in my basement that were purchased in February to be shot in June for a class.

I need to get more cans though. I've got 4k rounds of 9mm that are just chilling in the packaging out of cans on a shelf.

Not only has it been here longer without us reacting, the death rate is ridiculously low compared to the flu.

We knew it was going to turn out this way when random people living in extremely rural areas were showing up infected. For instance, 9 people across South Dakota were infected in EARLY MARCH that didn't travel. They had no way for the virus to get to them other than contact from other infected locals that never registered. Repeat ad nauseam.

Those early cases in SD were all people who had recently traveled, fyi. They hadn't traveled internationally, but they had all left SD (and who knows who they came into contact w/ when they were out of state).

Ordered 750 rds of browning 9mm 124gr fmj from Academy on Friday, and it's arriving tomorrow. Never shot it before but 16.6 cpr (after browning rebate) to my door seemed reasonable.

Something worth pointing out as we explore the fun of this "where do you store your ammo" question is that what matters is the environment your ammo is in.

If your ammo is in an ammo can, then the environment of your ammo IS the ammo can. If you store your ammo loose packed in your basement, then the environment of your ammo is the basement. Some people have dark, cold, damp basements. Some people have basements that aren't damp at all. Some people have garages that hit 100 degrees and 90% humidity in the summer. Humidity and heat are really bad for ammo.

From Federal: Store reloading components and ammunition in a cool, dry place, protected from direct exposure to sunlight. If stored properly, loaded ammunition has a 10-year shelf life.

This ^ is why a garage in VT is going to be much different long term than say a garage in Phoenix area

Higher temperatures, if nothing else, will increase the rate of the chemical reactions that cause the powder to slowly lose its potency, eventually leading to a loss of proper function.

It will take awhile, but...it's happening, always...hotter it is, faster it's happening
