What is your opinion on this virus? Leaving politics out,I am curious how concerned you are about it and if your life has changed in any way?
Yesterday at the grocery store the bleach, water, and Lysol section was wiped out as if a snow storm was forecasted.
I for one am not changing my behavior at all.

It seems far more infectious than flu and the incubation periods likely to be longer than 14 days as passengers on the cruise ship birthed in port in Japan (Diamond Princess) had been confined to cabin 2nd February but people were still being diagnosed as new cases at the end of Feb.
Seems nastier than seasonal flu as covid19 is about 0.5% mortality overall, so far.... Good news is 80% seem to have the same experience as a bad common-cold and require no medical treatment
Makes me concerned for elderly and those with compromised immune system, as those are the ones who suffer the worst. Interestingly AFAIK... there is no officially recorded mortality of someone <9 years old
If it be delayed further until after the seasonal flu season ends we may dodge the bullet.
Wash your hands people! Stop touching your face. Gloves help remind not to touch your face, so doubly useful if you are in contact with lots of people.
A doc warmly shook my hand only yesterday, so not everyone is panicking!

This.
Corona is $hit beer and you will almost never see an Mexican drinking that swill.
As far as the virus goes, nope worried 1 damn bit. Blown out of proportion and as mentioned the regular old flu this yr has killed more than 16,000 here in the USA and not 1 damn word is mentioned about it. The media lives on fear because that drives ratings which increases their ad revenues."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

When I was in the army, my buddies made me drink Everclear straight.
I survived that night as I crawled across the German autobahn back to the barracks.
I be damned if some Mexican beer takes me out. This above all..

Travelled this weekend. Lots of people in an international airport wearing masks. I have concerns about this virus. Where did it come from. Does it mutate? Why are people who recover from it susceptible to immediate reinfection?
This is not a political statement: The government cannot protect us from everything. The airport was crowded. People in close proximity everywhere, who are coming and going from nearly everywhere. If I touch a surface that an infected person coughed on 3 hours earlier and then I rub my eye, I can be infected. How could the government ever be able to track and prevent every person who touches any surface from coming into contact with anyone else?
So, I voiced my concerns and gave my thoughts about the likelihood of the spread of this virus, regardless of who is running government. Now, I will take reasonable precautions, live my life, and hope that if I am infected, I am able to obtain necessary medical care. If, for whatever the circumstances are, I am unable to obtain/access health care due to it being under the stress of large numbers of others trying to access it, I will rest, hydrate, and recover.
As far as the stock market, well...bummer, but I can't control that. I have moved some assets, but others, like my 401K are just going to take a major hit if people panic, and/or the response to this thing is to shut down commerce. One thing that I hope becomes more clear to people (and this is an economic statement, not a political one) is that we are too economically dependent on China. Obviously, international commerce is essential, but dependency is not good
And, I'm gonna try that suggestion that Louey made!Envy is ignorance. Imitation is suicide.

Masks work.. Wear it and people keep their distance and if they get close, sneeze a few times.. Boom you have your personal space back

That sucks.
I live out in the desert with few neighbors, I work out at home, my job is in a remote area, and I do my grocery shopping in a relatively small town. I'm not 100% isolated, but my life is about as close to being quarantined as any person can reasonably expect to be.
The stock market crash sure came at a bad time for me, though.“Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”

I am converting some newly aquired garden and forestry tools into anti-zombie equipment, since clearly, that is where this thing is headed eventually.
Estwing fireside friend becomes a ferocious zombie skull splitter, ARS katana grade shears sharpened further to easily lop off heads, and fiskars pop-up leaf collector should be strong enough to carry away some biohazardous material. A chain saw with a 24" bar is on it's way, in case things get truly desperate.

Being physically strong and in shape will not inoculate you against disease and illness. It may provide you with a slightly more robust immune system and some additional physical reserve to combat the effects of illness, but it doesn't prevent you from actually getting sick.

I’ve not had so much as the sniffles since in near a decade, the last time I got sick was when I was only training once a month and I was training in a fashion where I wasnt adding weight to the bar. I was only maintaining. I was also in the poor house from Bush and Obama. I worked at a company that did well for 50years, then those jerks got in. I wasn’t eating well.
