The team gave up points early because they were all trying to make a play instead of doing their jobs. They lost gap discipline and were gashed. They then got their discipline back and stopped the Ravens... for a while. They gave up plays late because they were tired. Those first 3 drives had an effect on them later in the game.

Pats D and O don't relay on big changes during games - most of the changes are progressive or incremental. There are a ton of "football smart" people explaining how the pats D wasn't prepare to D the WC offense accordingly.
all good, they won the game let see how things play out and IF (and this is a bigggg IF) they will make it to Gillette stadium in Jan"Paper money is going away" - EM

It's interesting to read about N'Keal Harry and his progress. Belichick and McDaniels have said good things about him and how he's progressing, but everything they've been saying is almost like there's still a chance he doesn't play this week.
Also, I am almost happy we lost last week against the Ravens. All the players I've seen interviewed are more focused and ready to do work than before.New England Patriot

never happy with a L but we got the undefeated money off our back and we got to see what Ravens have... if we play them again and don't think we are going to be caught unprepared again for the trickery.
I feel Harrys must have something that coaches like as I don't see why we would let Gordon go (unless off field issues) if Harrys wasn't ready or showing great progress."Paper money is going away" - EM

Its really funny because I don't think coming into the year the Patriots would have any business being 8-1 & SB favorites if you told me the following information.
Sony Michel would be averaging 3.3 YPC.
Tom Brady would be on pace to throw 25 TDs with a 93.1 Passer Rating.
Josh Gordon was so bad the Pats released him.
We'd be without Andrews for the year. Wynn would be on the IR for half the season. Mason & Cannon have missed games. Our line looks like one of the, if not the worst in all of football.
That being said, I think the run game is going to be a HUGE part of the second half of the year. Control TOP, let the defense work and you'll win games.
Also, I hate the fact the Eagles' bye was the same week as the Patriots', takes away the advantage.

I feel we secured playoff appearance with such a weak scheduele and now the rest if the schedule is to "get better" before post season.
I know I am over confident but I still don't see a team beating the pats in post season
Ravens: yeah same bs offense won't be so effective twice and specially if they need to come to NE
Kansas: can't cover their own shadow
Colts: good team all around but can't they beat the pats in gillette? i don't see it
Houston: Same as the Colts"Paper money is going away" - EM

Funny you mention us beating the Ravens again. I saw a statistics a few weeks back that showed our record against teams that beat us in the regular season vs post season. Our record against those teams were not good. I don't have the statistic in front of me, but I wanna say something like 2-7 against teams in the playoffs that we lost to in the regular season. Ravens were one of those teams.
However, I am with you on when it comes playoff time, our coaching staff is one of the best at getting teams prepared and ready to go.
Our remaining regular season schedule is going to be very tough and should be telling. We have to win home field advantage this season more than ever before. I'm hoping coming out of this bye week is more time for players to get healthy, get focused and build more chemistry. Our offense hasn't been good, but I don't think it's too far off either. Edelman, Sanu and Harry should be a solid threat in the passing game which may open up the run game and take a little relief off our line.
Time will tell. We have a lot of areas we need to improve on for me to feel comfortable come playoff time. Fortunately, we have time to get it figured out.New England Patriot

Did this stat by hand, so subject to error but...
Patriots' have rematched teams in the playoffs that they've lost against in the regular season 9 times. In those 9 games they're 3-6.
2001:
Rams (1-0)
2004:
Steelers (2-0)
2005:
Broncos (2-1)
2006:
Jets (3-1)
Colts (3-2)
2010:
Jets (3-3)
2011:
Giants (3-4)
2012:
Ravens (3-5)
2015:
Broncos (3-6)

^^^ Yup, that's the list I saw the other week and the Ravens are in fact on the list. I believed what Rob Nink said after the Ravens loss this season that we almost had to lose like that to beat them in the playoffs. But, after seeing that list it shows that isn't always the case for us.

Well Raven 15 was a more compplete team that Ravens 19.
That WC bs works for a bit but the more they use it the more tape teams are going to have - there is a reason why that O hasn't worked in the long run and I don't se Lamar as a good passer to make other type of O work if their run game is struggling during a game."Paper money is going away" - EM

I'd agree with that. The Ravens definitely benefited from having their bye week before playing us. They came up with a great game plan and showed us plays we've never seen yet.
Ravens next 3 weeks are: Texans, Rams and 49ers
Patriots next 4 weeks are: Eagles, Cowboys, Texans, Chiefs
There is no guarantee we get the 1st round bye. Chiefs, Texans, Ravens and Patriots all in contention for #1 seed.
Heading into the bye after giving up a ton of rushing yards to the Browns and Ravens, I really hope we come out focused against the Eagles and handle business.New England Patriot

Yup, offense is struggling mightily. I really hate the narrative that Wynn is going to make everything better. Newhouse is playing like absolute chit, but I have a hard time believing Wynn is going to turn that line completely around to where they're playing good again. I hope I'm wrong, but we have issues in many places that need figured out. If we don't figure out our offensive line, we won't go deep in the playoffs.
Defense played well tonight. Some sloppy plays and such, but got it done when the offense couldn't.
Dallas next week is going to be a huge test for us. Strong run game. Strong pass game. Dak playing well. I'm hoping we can start figuring this out and get better.New England Patriot

Listened to Tom Brady's post game interview. He didn't sound happy even after the win. Mentioned the confidence of the offense is up and down, which was a little surprising to hear him say. Mentioned it didn't matter how he thought the offense was doing, just mattered what they could actually do.
No one thought the offense played well, but it's good they know they aren't playing well and going to work to improving.New England Patriot

I was waving a red flag on this offense a month ago. What's concerning is that we haven't improved. 17 points isn't going to win a lot of games in 2019, even with a great defense.
The poor offensive play is on EVERYONE - from McDaniels to Brady to the offensive line to the receivers...etc. They'd better start figuring it out quickly because we're on to Dallas, Houston and then Kansas City, with Baltimore breathing down our necks with only two losses.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

Our run D is suspect
Our O is mehh at best
I am hoping with Wynn coming back Brady gets a few more seconds to throw the ball - Edelman drops have been momentum killer and it has happen more than usual this year.
annoyed with the way we are using our first round pick... why bother picking a receiver if we are not going to give him the chance to develop?"Paper money is going away" - EM

Edelman is T-2 on most dropped passes this season. He makes SB winning circus catches, but then has brain farts and drops easy, wide open passes. I think he dropped 2 last night, one of which would have been a TD.
Harry played in 32 of 74 snaps last night which was a much larger role than he was supposed to get. Dorsett getting hurt moved him into 3 WR sets. Coaches must think he's still behind on the offense.
I think we might have seen him more involved, but we struggled to move the ball. Edelman was quiet. Sanu caught 3 passes. Everyone struggled.New England Patriot

even if he comes back to the team it will take at least 3-5 weeks for him to get in football shape (he is in shape but as they said: that is not football shape).
at best we will have him for the last 2 games and playoff IF he returns which I certainly doubt - We have been getting ok production of Watson - with Gronk in the middle teams will need to account for him and stop double/triple cover Edelman"Paper money is going away" - EM

If he came back, I don't think it'd take him 3-5 weeks to get into football shape. He's stayed in good shape (from what I've seen) since "retiring" so I'd say 2 weeks and he'd be back into the swing of things. He'd make an impact in the run game quicker than the pass game. However, all that being said is he lost weight, so maybe his skill set would change a little until he got back up to his "fighting weight."
That's my guess as well.New England Patriot
