Looks like tight tolerances on holes ? They are asking for some nice semi gloss paint with white lettering , like they came out from the factory.

The bar is a little rough, some pitting and sleeves didn't really want to turn. Been painted which probably saved it from further degradation. Wasn't sure it would come apart. After about 35 texts from an unnamed forum member telling me it would and had I tried yet? I will as able to get the sleeves off that night. Got some paint stripper, then I'll let it soak in vinegar. Should fit in my GPR378 so I'll put it to work sooner or later.

I love you guys for taking the two York threads and posting all your great finds. No other place on the internet with this much information on York Oly stuff. Even the other forum can't touch these threads.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

As Atty said, be ready, have your truck full of gas and go at a moments notice. I too am waiting for some deep dish plates to be available at a price I can afford. I can also still remember not too many years ago I was waiting for ANY vintage Yorks to come my way and now I've acquired over 4000lbs of 70's plates , 3 bars, and 1 - 75 lb roundheads. ( still looking for the 6's & 9's)
Now OK for Sig line to be a novel

To add that , have cash in hand like $1k. On RH's, I have from 1 to 80 except 6's all pre USA. I saw them and passed them up and went back 2 weeks later and they were gone. Dumb mistake.

    Help identifying York Olympic Bar

Hi, I'm currently new to this thread and have and I'm looking for some information on a York Barbell Olympic bar that I have the is nothing for me to reference how old or the quality of it. The length is 7'3" and weighs 44 lbs. Any info would help and is greatly appreciated. I would like to post some pics but don't see an option for me to do so. Any suggestions on how to provide pics?

If your bar has split sleeves, you can pull off one of the sleeves and see if a date is punched on the inside of the inside collar.

To post pictures, click the Go Advanced button. From the new page, click the Manage Attachments button to upload pictures.

To actually have picture show up, it gets tricky. You have to preview your post and then copy the image URLs between img tags. For more info on using tags, click on the links at the bottom of the page.

Take it from someone who has been there done that. When I scored my massive pickup of vintage plates (DD 45s, 35s) I thought things were going to change. I figured Id get that massive promotion at work, I thought we all would experience world peace...but none of those things happened. The plates just sat there with that blank stare on their face. I sold them just out of spite.

Vintage york stuff is nice, dont get me wrong. But its not going to change your life. I still dont get the appeal of them, after owning them for a couple months. I guess its just one of those things thats difficult to acquire at a reasonable price, so everyone artificially inflates the market. Kind of like trying to score a furby or tickle me elmo back in the day. We are a weird species.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Speak for yourself, 1992 Camp Hansen Okinawa base gym I picked up my first York Olympic barbell. Up through middle/high school I'd been a runner and cyclist.

Going from a scrawny runner to a larger than most adult male most certainly changed my life. I've lifted a lot of weights over the years. Now with the time, money and space I'll continue lifting with the ones that started it all.

    Blue roundheads?!?

Just made a 6 hour round trip to add the final 20lb pair I mistakenly forgot to load while loading my 5-50’s score. Problem/not problem is they have a blue original paint on them. I can paint them I guess but...

Any info on the blue color roundies?

i believe the blue ones were sold in department stores in the 90s and possibly 2000s. so they are the newest roundheads (i dont consider legacy as 'roundheads').

Look up the definition of "artificial and inflated" and you'll find it listed as "Bulkmore's self-regard."

I thought USA stamped were the newest. I have a pair of blue 10's and they don't have the USA stamp.

Dude, you were corrected just a couple posts above. The forum DOES allow you to attach photos to your posts. RestoringTally explained exactly what you need to do.

This is worth discussing. No the "blue" dumbbells are not USA stamped, BUT that doesn't mean they're older. Perhaps they just didn't stamp that line, or maybe they were actually made overseas. Can anyone verify? Regardless, the "blue" dumbbells share the same characteristics as the USA dumbbells, such as the thicker handles (1 1/8" instead of 1 1/16").
