I usually just leave my workout bag in my car during work. However, during the summer months the clothes will start to permanently stink if they are left in the car. What do people do to prevent this? The only solution I can think of is go to the gym early enough so I can bring my workout clothes back home (gym doesn't have permanent lockers, otherwise I'd keep them there).

Just air the stuff out to prevent bacteria buildup which causes smells and then put them in your bag once dry and wash when you get home. How hard can it be to figure out?
As for the smell being permanent even after washing.... maybe it’s your machine being old and chit, or not enough detergent or maybe it’s your hygiene or clothes too old."Harboring unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die".

If your shirt is nylon you're screwed. That material should be banned. I have a bunch of nice under armour dress shirts and they stink within an hour. Nasty pit smell. I can wear a cotton shirt for a week straight and it will never stink.
If you are wearing cotton and sweating on your clothes...there wont be anything you can do if you leave them in a hot car. Its going to stink no matter what.

I had the same issue, my workout clothes aren't in a car but they do pile up for a week before I wash. Try using an "active" specific detergent. It's maybe just more strongly perfumed, but regardless it's worked for me. You won't want to wash your regular clothes with it.
This worked well for me: https://www.amazon.com/Tide-Febreze-.../dp/B00K6NOUXY
I have some other stuff now that I'd never heard of and can't remember the name offhand. Black bottle with green lettering and a star I think. It works fine too.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I bought several mesh laundry bags where I throw in all the clothes I worked out in including the sneakers. That allows it to air out. Also, unused dryer sheets are awesome to get smells out. I use them for the car, gym bag, shoes, and sometimes put it in the mesh bag with the stinky clothes.
Crossfit = A LOT of doctor visits.

one of the gym's i used to go to had plastic bags for you to put your clothes into. i'd tie them shut and then bring them home to wash.
as others have said: wear cotton. if you can, get some plastic bags to tie up, bring your whole gym bag into work with you, if it doesn't stink, if you have a place to put it, and wash them often

Nylon...aka moisture-wicking...aka stank shirts
I have some golf shirts in my closet that never get worn because they stink 10 minutes after I put them on.
That reminds me of a time when a friend of mine got mad because his football team lost the game and he threw his jersey on the barbeque grill to burn it. It just melted and ruined the grill lol. Nylon sucks[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No 7

With a name like Skidmarx, you figure the guy knows what he's talking about.
