    Keep Gym Clothes From Smelling?

I usually just leave my workout bag in my car during work. However, during the summer months the clothes will start to permanently stink if they are left in the car. What do people do to prevent this? The only solution I can think of is go to the gym early enough so I can bring my workout clothes back home (gym doesn't have permanent lockers, otherwise I'd keep them there).

I guess you'll have to buy new clothes every workout. Too bad there isn't a way to wash clothes.

Come on people. Of course I wash my clothes. The point is that if they sit in the car all day, the stench remains despite washing (with detergent).

You're leaving them in your gym bag, right? Try laying them out on back seat to "dry" in the heat. I don't know if this'll help or not.

Just air the stuff out to prevent bacteria buildup which causes smells and then put them in your bag once dry and wash when you get home. How hard can it be to figure out?

As for the smell being permanent even after washing.... maybe it’s your machine being old and chit, or not enough detergent or maybe it’s your hygiene or clothes too old.

If your shirt is nylon you're screwed. That material should be banned. I have a bunch of nice under armour dress shirts and they stink within an hour. Nasty pit smell. I can wear a cotton shirt for a week straight and it will never stink.

If you are wearing cotton and sweating on your clothes...there wont be anything you can do if you leave them in a hot car. Its going to stink no matter what.

Get a smaller separate gym bag for your worn clothes. Bring that smaller bag into work with you and leave it in your work locker or under your desk

I had the same issue, my workout clothes aren't in a car but they do pile up for a week before I wash. Try using an "active" specific detergent. It's maybe just more strongly perfumed, but regardless it's worked for me. You won't want to wash your regular clothes with it.

This worked well for me: https://www.amazon.com/Tide-Febreze-.../dp/B00K6NOUXY

I have some other stuff now that I'd never heard of and can't remember the name offhand. Black bottle with green lettering and a star I think. It works fine too.

Best Solution: Build a home gym

Easiest Solution: Get to the gym earlier, shower at home before work (what I used to do)

They stink this way after one use? Two? How many? Do you shower before you you put on your gym clothes to work out?
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I bought several mesh laundry bags where I throw in all the clothes I worked out in including the sneakers. That allows it to air out. Also, unused dryer sheets are awesome to get smells out. I use them for the car, gym bag, shoes, and sometimes put it in the mesh bag with the stinky clothes.

one of the gym's i used to go to had plastic bags for you to put your clothes into. i'd tie them shut and then bring them home to wash.

as others have said: wear cotton. if you can, get some plastic bags to tie up, bring your whole gym bag into work with you, if it doesn't stink, if you have a place to put it, and wash them often

    In one day? Doubtful.

Perhaps the BAG is getting funky?

It sits with the clothes inside it, all day every day, and most people don't often wash the gym bag...

...and the next guy will think the guy before him had a Hersey bar in his pocket....
That's what towels are for. You'd know, if you've ever been to a nudist colony or swinger's club. So I've heard...
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

    Nylon...aka moisture-wicking...aka stank shirts

I have some golf shirts in my closet that never get worn because they stink 10 minutes after I put them on.

That reminds me of a time when a friend of mine got mad because his football team lost the game and he threw his jersey on the barbeque grill to burn it. It just melted and ruined the grill lol. Nylon sucks

With a name like Skidmarx, you figure the guy knows what he's talking about.

I haven't tried it, but you could look into a PaqSule (paqsule.com) bag... which claims to remove odors from its contents...

If you do get one, would love to hear if it actually works... I'm skeptical.

If you are just worried about it smelling just wash it however it looks like you don't want to go home with it and drop it off as you might be inconvenience. I'd buy a ziploc bag and this way you can take your clothes with you to class or work and then when you get home obv wash them.

I'd go with Billy Mays. Use Oxiclean. Put the clothes in several layers of plastic bag. When you get home throw the works in a bucket of oxiclean and dish detergent. Let it sit for a few hours and then rinse and dry. Oxiclean is legit.

Apparently you can kill the bacteria that causes stank by freezing it. Throw your clothes in a bag and chuck it in the deep freezer overnight. Guess its better that your clothes then smell like hot pockets and ground beef rather than rotten hoagies.
