More drawing a line between Flynn, Trump, and Russian contacts. Once we know the nature of those meetings, we'll know whether Trump goofed.

So, if Flynn had contacted the Russians to get information on their point person, who he'd be working with on their end, etc., that's all well and good and expected. But if the conversation turns to diplomatic policies which undermine the actual government policies, then that's illegal. That's what Flynn might have done.
