Question I am down 385 pounds to 366 pounds in 25 days but I feel sh!!ty

    Hello fit people

I have a question I'm down 385 to 366 in maybe 25 days due to great dieting and intense cardio on my elliptical, but I feel extremely sh-tty, I feel lethargic tired and sleep deprived. I log all my foods on fitness pal and each day I'm 600-700 calories under my TDEE. I am also currently prescribed 37.5mg of phet-rmine by my doctor which I will be on for several weeks.

My diet consists of healthy veggies, small amounts of beef and pork and healthy snacking throughout the day with granola bars popcorn and fruit. But I must add that even though I am on a solid cut every day, my sodium intake is the only red on my fitness pal I am eating too much sodium, could this be the cause of the sh*tty feeling I have right now? I am extremely motivated so I push through it anyway.

Could you kind people elaborate on this tired, sleepy, lethargic feeling I have am I eating to less maybe? or is this par for the course for a man my size not eating 4000-5000 calories a day and my body is adjusting to this new cut?

Thanks for the insight and advice!

A lot of hormonal changes are probably occurring, but you're going to be hard pressed to find anyone recommending more than a 400cal deficit on here. You could be eating ambrosia, but if the deficit is too great your body is going to be very unhappy about it.

You are losing weight too quickly and not eating enough protein; you are putting yourself at severe risk of protein-calorie malnutrition which can cause a whole bunch of negative symptoms and serious health risks.

I'd bump up the protein a lot. High protein will be helpful in your quest to retain as much lean body mass as possible while losing fat.

Not really. Someone weighing 385 pounds can easily use a much larger deficit. Cutting on a 400 calorie deficit would take him years.

The general recommendation is that losing 1% of your body weight per week is safe.

Great work, and its awesome that your willing to push through the crappy feeling because you are motivated. It takes discipline, don't lose sight of your goals... it will be worth it!

This just sounds normal to me... you are starting a diet, and your body is not used to such low calories... its hard to get deep sleep when you drop your calories also. 600-700 below your TDEE is fine, I don't think you are eating too little. Your a big guy and can afford to go for a steeper caloric cut then the typical 500 below.

Mind over matter, remember that. Its just a feeling, you can push through it. Your body will adjust and you will feel better.

Easiest recommendation I have since you are eating a lot of salt: more water.

The thing is though if he managed to lose 19 pounds in 25 days then even considering some of that was water weight he's probably consuming a much larger deficit than 600-700, even if he thinks that is what he is doing.

OP, one other thought is that if you just started the med it could be side-effects of the med. I find that less likely but it's something to consider if these feelings persist even if you bump up the protein/calories some.

This is true, water weight aside, your deficit may be larger then you think, or your activity level may be really high and intense.

Maybe you are really eating the deficit you say, but you are overworking yourself and burning and excessive amount of calories.

How much protein, fat and carb does that work out to in grams, and what's your daily caloric intake?

When was the last tlme you took a day off of the cardlo?

Just hang in there...its takes some time for your body to adjust to a new diet, especially one with a decent caloric deficit. It will get easier over time - just pace yourself.

That sounds normal when You are cutting so many calories.

But since You are also taking meds, I'd recommend talking to Your doctor about this, just to be on Your safe side - You do have a lot of weight which is also a risk factor for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes.

And definitely try to cut the sodium down, that cant be good for anyone, and especially of someone of Your size.

Hang in there though You seem to be persevering and doing a great job, just remember, its not a sprint to lose weight, its more of a marathon!
