Thanks, EPC. I've been trying. My pull ups have suffered a little due to putting on some weight (about 10 lbs) for weighted push ups, and the 4 weighted step up attempts I did last month. 2 of the weighted step up attempts were approved, and 2 I need to wait and see. Not sure what my next pursuit will be. Open to suggestions if you or anyone has any. Good to hear from you.

Trying to switch things up. I started my pull up workout with 40 BW, then rested about 4 minutes, and did 100 chest to bar for time. Took me 11:57. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I think it was a good workout. I'd be curious if anyone else tried 100 chest to bar to see if they liked it.

Nice. All looked good. Great work. I think you lose some good time by writing down your reps. But the 100 all looked good. Good job.

I'll have to do that chest to bar challenge! Been working back up in the weight with lower reps over vacation, including sets of 5 chest to bar with +70. Today I did a max set BW chest to bar for 31:

If we're going on the theory that chest-to-bar is 1.75-2x harder than regular, your 11:57 is very good Especially after a set of 40. But I will have to try it myself!

How important do you guys think it is to alternate grips?

    pull, chin, hammer

I mainly focus on pull ups. Do you think it would be wise to alternate EVERY workout?

I'm thinking of running DUP training so I would have one heavy day, one light and one medium. So if I alternate every workout I would probably only get to using the same grip with the same workout once every 3 weeks or something. Maybe alternate every week?

I've noticed if I lay off chins for even just a few weeks it will always lag behind my pull up even though it's much "easier". My hammer grip is also absolute sh!t. My main goal is pull up but perhaps training other grips is the missing link to getting my pull up stronger?
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

I dont think its necessary. I train pull ups exclusively but I would switch to chin ups if I could to pull more total weight and get some more biceps activation. they train your elbow flexors better and make you ready for one arm work better than regular pull ups

I also use DUP and do pull ups 3 times a week. all days could be considered heavy tho. except for highest volume day which is sets of 8 and done once few weeks

That forearm muscle-up looked brutal! Perfect execution on the whole set, as always. That's a fast comeback from being sick.

Haven't posted a long time. Today tried reps with +20kg in 60 seconds, after doing some harder reps. I'm swinging too much

    Hi everyone,

I've disappeared because I've been working every nanosecond of the day, but I usually have time to go to the gym 2-3 times a week for pull ups. My routine over the last few months is 100 weighted pull ups with 75 lbs (20 vest + 55 on dip belt) in 20 minutes. I weigh 145 lbs so it's > 150% BW for me. One of these days I'll get a bigger vest to shift the weight up, because the problem is that by the end of the workout it feels like the bottom half of my body will get ripped out like a shrimp's tail. And I have a feeling that it won't be good long-term to be doing this.

Last week I started increasing the volume but decreasing the weight, so my new workout is 300 pull ups with 20 lbs added, in a bit under 30 mins. I use neoprene pads but it still takes a toll on my hands. I'll keep doing this over the next few weeks/months and try to increase volume - or, if I find a 45 lbs on craigslist (I'm a cheapskate), I'll try to work on that, as 45 lbs seems to be the standard unit of records, in the offchance I can go for some huge-volume-oriented one.

Cooperrun, I know it's way too late, but I loved your post about 4 new GWRs in a single day! Obviously, congratulations.

    Hi All,

It's good to see people posting. Chapz, post a video of your reps. Cunanan, inspiring work as always. Prof Pullups, I know you are getting it done, I am witnessing it in person! EPC, good to see you back in action. Empirez, good to see you cranking. And Iraklis, nice work! That's awesome.

I've been busy doing pull ups and other strength training, but while on vacation in FL recently I did 150 pull ups for time. I finally broke 10 minutes and did it in 9:58. I did 41 in a minute to start, 66 in three minutes, 100 in 5:53, then finished up the 150 at 9:58. I weigh 172 lbs now, due to some heavy push up training and some leg training, so I was happy to PR at a higher weight. That's it for now!

On Feb 1,2017, I also participated in the below Reebok/GWR record attempt day. Check out the link! I increased my record for most switch grip pull ups in a minute from 23 to 26, and got the record back for most knuckle push ups in one minute, up from 85 to 91.
