What a way to start off the new year. I was a former cigarette smoker, started off smoking when I was 16. I had smoked for about 4 years then quit when I got into fitness and lifting. I have been smoke free besides the occasional herbs for 7 years now. I always had a light cough I'd get for about a week at a time but never thought anything serious about it. Until about 2 months ago my cough started getting worse, I lost my voice for about 2 weeks and could barely get food down.
I went to the doctor about the problem, they originally thought it was a throat infection and prescribed medication but it didn't get any better. I went back after a month and they did further tests and scans. My doctor called me in yesterday and let me know it's cancer
I was really in shock I can't explain how I felt at that moment. I feel empty is all I can say. What a way to start off the new year

I did radiation and chemo, just lemme know how I can help. We're all gonna make it.Train hard, train smart, have fun!

didn't smoke in 7 years ?
it has to be genetic im convinced , maybe those 4 years speed up the cancer and you would have it later in life had you not smoked
either way, let us know if it's just a tumor or actually cancer and if it's benign or not
maybe surgery to remove the tumor and radiation to follow up or just radiation if it's small enough*no crew* crew

This. Smoking is bad sure, but my grandfather smoked from 7 years old to 80 something and has never had cancer. They definitely contribute but even a lifetime of smoking can't cause cancer in some.
It's likely this would have happened anyway even if OP didn't smoke, but it would have probably progressed more slowly and he would have found it 5-10 years later.

You'd better start telling fam/friends now. You're going to need them, fast.
And no one here is gonna give you sympathy. We'll give you support and encouragement but we've all dealt with deep ****. Don't ever expect anyone to feel sorry for you. Put on your fighting big boy boxers.Train hard, train smart, have fun!
