It's an insult that Aggies( Texas AtM) use for people from UT or maybe just Austin in general.
Honestly I didn't go to UT but dated a girl that did for a while. It's a really good school and the town is pretty chill. Pretty liberal tons of traffic but endless things to do outside when the weather is nice which is the majority of the time. Come for a visit

Austin is also an epicenter of live music, cuisine, and nightlife.
One of the best things about Austin is the actual overall size. It is very compact and most of the entertainment is centrally located and you don't even have to go over 8-10 miles from one end to the other, most is walkable. Houston/Dallas/San antonio everything is scattered, specially Houston, where the night life has become terrible and you are restricted to small areas with minimal entertainment and an hour drive just to go from one place to the next and every main highway is a toll road.
And to all the people that cry about traffic, the only time you have to worry about traffic is during rush hours and only if you are going north and south .**worthless college major crew**

If only everything in the city was directly east or west of me. And the rush hours take up a good 8 hrs of the day.
And the compactness of Austin is the reason why traffic is so bad, you got everything in one place with everyone all trying to go there. You got water on the west and south and UT campus blocking most of the north. It leaves very few routes in and out. I'm from Fort Worth, a city with the same population as Austin, but Fort Worth is massive in terms of land size and much more spread out. And traffic is 10x better than Austin's traffic.Last edited by Lpenny; 02-28-2016 at 04:38 AM.

Hi Texas brahs! I'm looking to apply to some grad schools, and Texas A&M came up. I was going to apply there, but a relative of mine who lives in the US told me that the school is heavily black people dominated and it would be too much of a cultural gap for me to be able to fit in. Is this true? No racist (srs) but I wouldn't want to go to a school where I have a hard time just communicating with other students.
How is this school in general? Also, what about Uni of North Texas?

Probably trans to unt sometime next year. Honestly there are quite a bit of black people(no racist gf is black)
But once u adjust to the culture you'll be good. Lots of Chinese students here as well and they seem to adjust fast, just prepared for the culture shock.
For the most part everyone gets along"I bet your parents taught you that you mean something, that you're here for a reason. My parents taught me a different lesson, dying in the gutter for no reason at all... They taught me the world only makes sense if you force it to."

Depends what grad degree. As for the people, A&M is heavily white. Expect to see a lot of truck driving country brahs in jeans decked out in school gear. Lot's of tradition and love football. Can kind of get lost in the see of people. College Station is okay. As for UNT, a little more cultured and a little more artsy though the town is still pretty conservative. Two unis and a lot of girls. Don't really care about school spirit or football. Close to Dallas and Fort Worth so there's a lot to do around here.
