    Question Front squats + Deadlifts

I'm doing lyle McDonald upper/lower split.
On lower day it calls for squats and legpress. I front squat instead of leg press because of equipment limits.

On the other lower day he says you can do leg press/deadlift combo. Would there be anything really wrong with doing deadlift and front squat instead? Thanks.

Front squats work the quads. Deadlifts work the hamstrings and glutes. Sounds like a balanced leg day to me.

Sounds fine, I'd just make sure to do the squats first because squatting with a fatigued lower back from deadlifts is a recipe for form breakdown

Taking a closer stance will hit the quads more yes, but front squats will hit the hamstrings just as well if you take a normal back squat stance which is what I do.

Front squats really take the low back out of it, but you'll definitely feel it in the middle back. I actually do front squats before deads currently actually.

    To OP, that's just fine.

I think it's a good combination. Deadlift is really the same as the top half of a low bar back squat without the limitations imposed by thoracic extensors. Front squats will hit the quads very effectively and improve the weak point of the back squat. So when you go back to the back squat, it should have improved.
