Just wanted to see what you fellas thought about Phase 8. A BOGO deal caught my eye and I was strapped for cash recently. Looked to have a decent profile and I like the idea of "extended release protein". I see in the reviews that people complain about it being "spiked". What's the deal with that
Thanks

Look elsewhere. You get what you pay for. Google spiked protein.

"spiked" means that there are cheap fillers in the protein and that it does not contain as much protein as it says it does.

It tastes good, and mixes well. Can't really ask more from protein.

It's still a good deal when it's BOGO if you ask me. Vanilla Phase 8 is still my favorite vanilla protein. hnnnggg

as far as blend proteins go look into Quattro by Magnum. It's the best quality blended protein I could find. Phase 8 tastes good, but I refuse to use a spiked protein.

Nothing is wrong with me. Obviously spiked protein powders are not that great, you are not taking as much as protein as you think you are but I believe that a lot of people expect too much from a simple whey protein powder. If you are too worried about 4-5g of protein difference in your intake, consume real food. You know what you are getting 100%. Drink whey to supplement your daily intake, not to make it your primary source of protein.

lol thanks for the red. In the end, if it is a good deal, having less than what the label states won't really hurt you. Anyway. Have fun.

"Who cares if it's deceptively marketed, it's cheap" is a really bad though process to have regarding anything you're going to put in your body.

That is true. It is also fairly hard to control everything that goes in to your body. It will consume your time to make sure everything you eat and take is 100% natural and not processed in any way or shape...which is non-existent in today's world pretty much.

I've been hearing recently about the "spiking issue" also, and honestly it concerns me; because Phase 8 is the best tasting protein I've experienced in a long time. All the flavors are spot on. I love MT and believe they have the best pwo on the market; hopefully the guys at MT can clear this up???

MT has some good products however P8 is not one of them. Look for a better BOGO if one pops up.

IMO if you just want a cheap blended protein that avoids the whole protein spiking issue, get Dymatize Elite XT. Not the tastiest stuff, but they have really unique flavors and I really like the banana nut and fudge brownie.

MuscleTech does have better quality proteins, which I would recommend. I would stay away from Phase8 though. The serving size is massive and its only 25g of protein. Minus the fact they use fillers. The sheer volume of the scoop size only deterred me from ever buying it again after I first tried it. With all that being said, MuscleTech does have other lines of proteins that are more than suitable.

Tastes pretty good and is good for baking but no idea on the protein content. Tend to stay away from those protein powders now.
Progressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

This is a factor for me too. I usually mix my powder with water or milk in the morning and chug it before work. Phase 8 was a massive pain in the ass to mix up. BPI Whey isn't a ton better mix-wise, but the serving size is smaller and it seems to be higher quality. And I'm just using that currently because it had it's own BOGO sale.
If it's a value thing, there are 30% more servings in a 2lb tub of ON Gold Standard than a 2lb tub of Phase 8 because the serving is so much closer to the actual protein content.Broke both legs and ankles crew.
Recover gains or die trying crew.
