You have to be retarded to bench press without a powerrack by yourself. If you have the safety bar where they should be, you have 0% chance of failing at a lift and slowing choking or suffocating yourself to death. I dont feel bad for any of those dip****s

No, quality racks like the Body-Solid one I mentioned in my previous post are ridiculously sturdy. If you set the safety bars at the correct height there's no way the bar is coming down on you.
I've maxed out 315 on my own on several occasions. And I've failed on it a bunch more, lowering the bar slowly onto the safety bars which are set just a very short amount higher than chest level.

Does anyone else see a trend with these bench fails? In every bench shoulders/elbows r too flared, creating a massive risk to the neck if/when they fail. Srsly all you guys need to look up proper benching technique, especially at heavy weights your technique is so critical. Start learning to get the shoulders and traps and back TIGHT, get used to benching with proper unracking with straight shoulders, bench lower on your chest with elbows tucked in. If you cant get it up you will def fail around upper abs/lower pec and its a simple matter of side rocking to dismount.
Too many guys try to get the glory lifts by flaring hard and using joints for leverage, at big weights it will fk you up big time.

benching in a straight line is just a another bench technique, it heavily favors the triceps, mark bell benches this way. but enough pro powerlifters for example dan green, push towards the rack in order for the shoulders to assist a ****ton in lockout and most people are a lot stronger in their lockout by involving their delts. there is not 1 way to bench
I lift therefore I Misc

this lifting video is pretty scary too... it's a crossfit vid, but it's the snatch so it's not exclusive to crossfit. might be repost. Dude drops the barbell and severs his spine.
edit: idiot still has same attitude of "fk it i'm just gonna do it and it'll come out however it comes out"

It always makes me lol why these people upload these types of videos. I can understand why the Star Wars kid video ended up online, some ppl stole the video and uploaded it to make fun of the guy. However when it's the idiot in the video uploading it... just blows my mind. If I did something so stupid, that chit is getting erased pronto.

his form was fine
he had safety bars, the design in them flawed.. not his fault.
he was trying to rerack it (the safety bar is suppose to be touching the main post).
He's not stupid at all, the spotter thing? i guess but some people like to workout alone, hence the safety bars.aka. Tomthetrainwreck

there isn't suppose to be a space... look at the bottom, they are attached to the main part of the bench, but instead of having adjustment pegs up the post, they went a cheap route figuring the triangle at the bottom will keep the top of the safety bar pressed against the post........ lulz, wrong... the post bounced away from the bar and opened the gap briefly.

FYI this bench setup is qualified for and used in some competitions. What happened here is a design flaw that up untill that point hadn't been found. When he tries to rack the failed lift it hits the bench with so much force that it creates a hole between the bench and the safety bars. So the hole wasnt there to start with.
If there hadn't been a design flaw he would have been able to put it on the safety bars without any problems and there would have been no need for a spotter. You can argue that it was stupid to try and rack it like that, but if he felt confident that the safety bars would be there i guess you can't blame him too much.
