One thing I will add is, I use one scoop of ON Casein with the Whey. Just makes things a lot easier.

    Here is my similar diet

    meal 1
5 egg whites + 1 whole egg (cooked in olive oil), 1 cup green beans

    meal 2
scoop of whey, 1 cup green beans, 16 almonds

    meal 3
6 oz piece of chicken, 1 cup green beans, 16 almonds

    meal 4
6 oz piece of chicken, 1 cup green beans, 16 almonds

    meal 5
scoop of whey, 1 cup green beans, 16 almonds

    work out
sipping BCAA's + whey during and after workout

    meal 6
8 oz piece of chicken, 1/2 cup green beans, 14 almonds

Now just about everyone I talk to tells me that I am wasting my time with this cut diet because its a receipe for catabolism. They insist I spike my insulin with whey + dextrose after my workout. I follow this diet during the week and pretty much carb load on weekends (not trying for a contest, just looking to drop bf). Should I add some sort of insulin spike PWO? Am I really losing muscle with my current diet? I usualy lift for an hour and do a light 30 min jog while I am sipping on my BCAA + whey cocktail.

Why did you post this in this thread? This has nothing to do with Dave's diet.

Excuse me for trying to get some helpfull advise from some experts on cutting.

I was under the assumption that the diet I followed is SOMEWHAT similar to Dave's diet and just wanted to know if spiking insulin is recomended in similar diets.

I don't know how much is in a 'scoop', but not over 10g imo. gluconeogenesis?

I don't even use dex while bulking, and wouldn't dream of it for a cut.

You may be, depending on what your calories are, what your macros are, what your weight is and what your supplements are. At this point I cannot say.

Thank you very much for the advise. I guess all I really want to know is should I spike my insulin PWO or is a carb and fat loan a couple times a week sufficient enough? Thanks again.

You do not need to spike your insulin. I'd recommend having your 'load' or 'cheat' on the day that you train your weak or lagging part(s). For me, I do it on leg day.

I think that is when you should take that low dose of BCAA's. I know Dave does NOT subscribe to that, but it will be muscle sparing, especially for the natural BB.

    45/35/30

    carbs/fats/protein

i find protein not needed as much when bulking

i had my best gains this off season eating less protein than i have in the past

of course i was eating around 5000-6000 calories a day

after a workout is the whey protein + peanut butter part of the 6 meals a day or that would be an extra meal on training days ??
And if one just takes a whey protein shake only wouldn't it help more even if there could be a slight insulin spike ,
Maybe take whey + creatine ?

Read the whole thread, still wondering...

I saw a few posts from bigguns like myself, and a few posts from folks saying that this is not a good diet for bigguns, and mainly directed at pre-contest folks.

So I'm at 280, probably 28% bf. Looking to drop weight, not necessarily fast - but reliably...would the Palumbo diet for a 250+lb'er be worth a shot, or should I just go back to number crunching?

    Question another question..

should you have a whey + pb shake after 30- minute morning cardio? Or wait longer for it if at all?

    Thanks!

I would wait... You shouldn't be going balls out on cardio where you would need nutrition after it. Plus, the increased lyposis is awesome.

hey aaron i'm not a big fan of these diets (mostly because I keep reading about how these diets are used by people running monster fat burners and doing cutting cycles) but how is this working for you? I don't want to ask anyone else because they're gonna go on and on about how awesome it is, but i've been lurking here and you seem to be doing this as an experiment almost. The only reason I wonder is curiousity, seems weird to eat all this ****ing protein

How is that weird? High protein (especially compared to a "normal" diet) is a staple of most bodybuilding type diets, and nearly every cutting diet. Low total calories+low protein intake=loss of muscle in general.

If I wanted to cut (I wont be for a couple years) I'd start at 3200 to lose one lb a week. Now 50% protein is 1600 calories, or 400 grams of protein. I weigh 144-145 lbs at 5'3, 10-12% bf. Explain to me the logic

The logic of what? No sarcasm there, I don't understand the question. If you are saying 400 grams of protein is illogical I guess that is a matter of opinion.

If you can cut on 3200 calories at 144lbs then I envy your metabolism. That would be very nice to have. I weigh between 180-190 and I can generally maintain on 2800ish. 3200 would be the start of a bulk for me, and I weigh 40-45lbs more than you do.
