Goblet squats at home (with triceps bar)...

    Hi all,

I'm struggling with leg exercises at home (very limited setup), and I've considered doing goblets. Spin-lock DB can only hold 30 kg (about 65 lbs), so I'd do them with a hollow (yikes!!!) triceps bar that should be good for up to 60 kg (probably a bit more but seems too risky...). I have no clue how to do these, and I'm worried about my form, so I thought I should ask people with more experience for any pointers/advice.

I've put up a video with a test run here: streamable.com/gs1m58

The plan is to go light with higher reps...

    Cheers,
    Oi

I think you'd be better of doing them as Zerchers

I'd personally just do a lot of single leg work, which you can also do in a zercher position with that bar

Thanks, that's good advice! I have a standard barbell, so that might work out...

You can also do 60 kg if you take both spinlock dbs, clean them up and over your shoulder resting the back plates on the top of your shoulders with your elbows facing out front, and then squatting that way. A little less awkward IMO.

I tried it, but I didn't like it (too many protruding bolts and things on the dbs). I feel that just holding the triceps bar works OK, and it's very similar (practically identical) to how I would hold a db for a regular goblet squat...

Maybe get an EZ curl bar that it right in the crooks of your arms better.

Whatever you can hug to your chest safely is fine mate.

As wolf said maybe let it sit in your elbow pits for vs more 'Zetcher' style. It's completely safe and legit.

Thanks everyone! I'll give the Zercher a go with standard bar and see how it feels...
