The best selling one is the Nissan Rogue.
It does 0-60 in 9.8 seconds, 1/4 mile in 17.5 seconds, has a CVT transmission and handles and corners like a school bus.

You know what's faster, sportier, and handles Better?
A Prius, yes the vehicle known for being slow, boring, and having bad handling and steering feel beats America's favorite CUV/SUV in all these areas.
http://www.motortrend.com/cars/toyot...t-test-review/
You could get a VW GLI with a manual transmission, a GTI, a Mazda 6, Passat GT, Subaru WRX, Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, Charger, and dozens of other better more fun vehicles instead of a boring compact CUV/SUV.
In the rest of the world they have sporty mid size station wagons with 6 speed manual transmissions and awd available for people who need more space or to drive in the snow.
I'd literally take a Prius over a boring slow Nissan Rogue any day.

1. The Nissan Rogue is reasonably aesthetic and is a good size for a lot of drivers, especially females. Furthermore they are extremely cheap. Right now a local dealership is offering new 2017 model Nissan Rogue's for only 17K. It has more interior space then all the vehicles you listed.
2. People who want a car that handles/drives well don't buy a crossover or SUV. They buy a car.
3. Very few people aside from a few car enthusiasts want a manual car. For the most part modern automatics will out-drive them every time. There is a reason why manufacturers that do offer manual put the price-point at 3-5k cheaper then the automatics and they still struggle to sell them.
I'm 31 and hands down the most enjoyable vehicle I've ever driven or owned was a 4x4 F250 Diesel. It also handled a bit like a school bus and had a 0-6 in 9 or 10 seconds. I don't currently need those towing capabilities so I don't have one but in about 5 years I'll likely have another one. By far one of the most masculine and enjoyable vehicles to drive IMO.

Because gas is cheap, utility is important to most owners, due to improved technologies there isn't much of a difference in fuel efficiency with sedans or SUVs. And there are plenty of SUVs faster than a Nissan Rogue and there are some that are arguably quite fast at least in a straight line.
But in generally sedans aren't where the money is at the moment. I believe the chevy sonic, ford fiesta are both on the chopping block next year and there is talk of terminating the impala, ford taurus, and dodge charger.
Most people ultimately don't care about performance. They want something that will take them where they want to go, is cheap, somewhat comfortable, and can carry their stuff._____________

americans like pumping out babies. That and having room "just in case"
who wants a base model.
The second you get an "extra" feature, the price spikes like $3k+
GF bought a new 2015 for $23k purely due to all the space for work. Its not that bad a car. Of course, mid range crossover/suv has a lot of little irritating rattles and sh*t.Carb Mal-absorption, no breads, sugary snacks, rice, pasta...live off of 30-40g a day.

Not a fan of the crossovers but to be fair most people who buy SUVs buy them for the room and not what it can do in 0-60 seconds.
My wife recently bought a Buick Enclave. Never did she ask what the car can do in 0-60. She only cared if it had 3rd row seating, captain chairs in the middle and looked halfway decent.LOL @ people who follow politics

I can’t commute in a car. The ride height is complete **** for navigating heavy traffic. BRB can’t see **** over the car in front of you. My commute is shortened due to being able to see over most vehicles and it helps predict the flow/stay in the moving lane.
Plus the seating position in a real SUV/truck is much better than a car.
But really the Rogue is a **** vehicle.Redskins - Capitals - Wizards - Nationals

we are not the majority. there are a lot of customers out there who do not care about how fast these things go. some don't even care how they look really, or what color it is. i am not one of those people but you have to accept that most customers are probably looking for something like a nissan rogue vs a manual trans used camaro or whatever else you listed there OP.

You know what can carry all your stuff(has more cargo space), is more comfortable, fuel efficient, better handling, better accelerating, faster top speed, better cornering, better steering, faster braking, costs less, and FAR MORE FUN than Compact SUVs?
MIDSIZE STATION WAGONS many of which are available with AWD and a choice of Diesel, Gas, or Hybrid Engines, Manual, Automatic, Dual Clutch, or CVT Transmissions ACROSS THE WORLD EXCEPT THE US.
Head Room and Ground Clearance are are your ONLY real downsides and most people aren't 7 feet tall and never go off road so it's a moot point.

SUV and CUVs don't even come within LIGHYEARS to Sedan/4 door fastback capabilities.
Care to name one BRAND NEW CUV/SUV that costs $38,350, handles like a Ferrari from a decade or 2 ago, that can do 0-60 in the mid 4 second range, run 1/4 mile in 12.6 seconds and has a top speed of 167 mph, and MOST IMPORTANTLY is AS FUN TO DRIVE AS?
That's what the Kia Stinger GT can do for example.

Don't ever watch a drag race between an old 2002 Camaro SS and a Jeep Cherokee SRT8 or a Dodge Demon vs Trackhawk at the Drag Strip. You'll cry at all the money you wasted for such a slower and uglier vehicle.
A 2002 Camaro SS has a higher top speed than a Jeep Cherokee SRT8 and costs like 1/5th the price, LMFAO.

AWD Midsize Station Wagons have MUCH MORE SPACE than Compact CUVs and Cost LESS.
Families are buying Nissan Rogues, Honda CRVs, Toyota RAV4s, Ford Escapes, and Chevrolet Equinox's.
They are NOT buying Hummer H1,s Trackhawks, Suburbans, Range Rovers, etc.
Those COMPACT CUVs are what this thread needs to be about.
People are changing the subject to CUVs/SUVs that NOBODY's buying.

One of the FASTEST PRODUCTION TRUCKS IN HISTORY is slower than most German Grandmother's Mini Vans and Station Wagons in Germany, ROTFLMFAO.
It's literally MUCH MUCH slower than a BASE JETTA, not even a GLI, LMFAO.

?? Who cares what the top end speed of a truck is? Especially when the gear ratios are made for low end grunt and towing. Bring your german mini van or station wagon where I take my snowmobiles and see if they can tow a trailer up to the parking lot in the conditions I see in the winter. Lets see if they can make it up to the trail heads I go hiking at that require 4wd and high clearance. I bet you can't find a car in that category that will go as far as my truck will without stopping for gas either.

I studied hard in college so I DIDN'T have to live some place where I'd have to drive a chitty SUV. I live in Santa Monica and have access to some of the best curvy mountain roads on the planet with almost zero traffic.
I've driven body on frame vehicles like Suburbans, Long Wheel Base Lincoln Town Cars, as well as Unibody crossover and Body on Frame pickups before.
Driving those vehicles is a PUNISHMENT AND A CHORE. Long Wheelbase Town Cars were INCREDIBLE as a passenger though, like a Rolls Royce Light.
I like driving to be an fun and enjoyable experience, and it's obvious that Americans could care less about driving enjoyment.
Most people would love to be able to drive a Bugatti Chiron or a Koenigsegg Agera RS, or at least an Aventador SV or Ferrari 812 Superfast. Even for rich people, those cars can be impractical especially for families.
A Driver's Supercar may be a 10/10 for fun factor, but it's too impractical for families.
A Sports Sedan like a BMW M5 or Mercedes Benz E63S is a compromise that lowers the fun factor from a manual transmission supercar like a ZR1, but it's not throwing away the baby with the bath water.
A Mercedes Benz E63S Station Wagon is an even bigger compromise for more cargo room for a family, but still something you can drive and have fun.
SUVs, CUVs, Pickup Trucks, and Mini Vans are SOUL CRUSHING COMPROMISES that take the fun factor down to between 0.0001/10 to 1/10 for the very best of them.
Americans LITERALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE MISSING.
Anyone who's ever driven a fun rear wheel drive sports car or sports sedan(especially with a manual transmission) would never ever settle for a Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram, Nissan Rogue, Toyota Rav4, Honda CRV, Ford Escape, or Chevy Equinox.
The least fun vehicle they'd be able settle for would be something like a Mazda 6 station wagon with a manual transmission.
RWD, High Horsepower Engine, Performance Summer Tire, Manual Transmission, Very Low Center of Gravity, Wide and Short Vehicle, Independent Rear Suspension, Limited Slip Differential, Performance Brakes, Good Downforce, and several other things are needed to have a very fun vehicle.
The MORE you start taking away, the less fun the vehicle becomes. SUVs, Pickups, and Mini Vans take AWAY EVERYTHING.
Mini Vans and Pickups at least have their purpose for work trucks and people movers.
CUVs are completely useless since Station Wagons serve their purpose better when looked at objectively.
SUVs are also almost COMPLETELY useless because 99% of their owners never go off road or tow any thing.
99%+ of Large SUV Owners should really be buying Mini Vans.
I literally go many months and sometimes even a year without seeing an SUV towing anything.
