Would like something as comfortable and stable set flat and adjusted. The adjustable we have at our gym are great when adjusted but suck when flat. They seem to hyper extend your back and I refuse to use them as a flat bench because of it. Probably something used off craiglist. What brands/types should I be looking for?

I recommend a full commercial bench. Try to find a used one for $250 or less.
If the bench weighs 80lbs or more it is likely full commercial. Under 80lbs it is likely to be light commercial or home use.
Things to look for on a good adjustable bench: Bench height (16"-19"), firm pads, wheels, acceptable pad gap, small front foot design, adjustment type (ladder style or pop pin).
Typical brands that you may recognize: Hammer Strength, Cybex, Life Fitness, Bodymasters, Star Trac/Flex, Matrix/Magnum, Nautilus, Precor, Icarian, Paramount.
Other brands to look for: Legend, Rogue, Sorinex, Reflex, Atlantis, Nebula, Elite FTS, Williams Strength, Prostar, Dynamic Fitness, Promaxima, Freemotion Epic, Samson, Strength Inc.
Top line brands: PowerLift, UCS, Rogers Athletic Pendulum
I have two of these in my home gym. http://legendfitness.com/product/thr...utility-bench/
Light commercial and home use brands: Body Solid, Parabody, Northern Lights (Canadian), Hoist (Hoist also offer full commercial benches), Powerblock, IronMaster.
If it says Weider, it is probably junk.

Not finding much for good used ones in my area but sure like the looks and price of this one from REP. It's not officially commercial but at close to 90 lbs it's got to be close. Thoughts on this bench Gregg?

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Fishman15 again.
I was unable to give you the following greens.
May the blessings of Christ be upon you and yours in the coming new year. May his example of determination give you strength of resolve to keep pushing (should you ever take up lifting) and may his words bring you comfort on your rest days. May your gains glorify the Lord and may his hand protect you from injury.
In Jesus's name, we lift.
Well some of us do, I still would like to know if you even lift?

Not sure what OP is benching, but when I get around 275 on my cheap home bench it starts feeling sketchy AF. I have a video of me benching 3 plates in my basement where the whole setup is clearly fukked up, fortunately I didn't get hurt and will never get under 3 wheels on a cheap bench again.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Craigslist searching is all about patience and luck. It could take months of waiting and you have to be ready to move fast on an item with cash in hand.
The Rep Fitness guys are actually members here on BB.com. They listen to the member's feedback in the equipment section when designing their offerings.
I consider that bench light commercial. I think that it is made overseas which would explain the price point. Clearly that design tries to mimic this Hoist bench which a lot of people consider the best bench made at any cost.
https://www.hoistfitness.com/commerc...-decline-bench
I have not used that Rep Fitness bench. However, I have read solid reviews on it. Nice bench for the money and you get the decline feature which is fairly rare in full commercial. New full commercial adjustable benches start around $550.
I think it would be a good choice for a "new" bench, in that price range, for small and medium size users. Read and study the remarks in the reviews.
You will have to get used to the feet rollers which could be an issue if you are like me and prefer no clutter around your feet. Roller pads and a wider seat pad are the tradeoffs when choosing benches with the decline feature.Last edited by deadwoodgregg; 12-26-2017 at 09:32 AM.

At this point, just looking for something to use with db's when I can't make it into the gym. No room for bars in this space...
Yea, something to think about with the roller pads on it. Like you, I don't like stuff around my feet except for my db's I'm using and I don't typically use the decline bench in my gym. I'll have to look into seeing if that is easily removed maybe. Thanks for the feedback...Well meaning, elderly man with a poor memory...pause

I have the GFID71 and like it but there are other options too that might work. I had two for awhile bought one for $30 at a yard sale and sold it for $125 on CL. One of their stores is near me and they might lower the price if you call IDK. When I bought my home gym I bought it all at once so I negotiated with them a little. Good quality for the price and lifetime warranty on everything other than their really cheap line.

If you don't want to wait on possibly finding a used full commercial adjustable bench cheaper on craigslist, this is the best, new, shipped, deal that I would recommend.
http://wfathleticsupply.com/cap-7-po...-wheels-black/
Bench also available in white.

I don't know how much longer the $300 shipped price will last.
You might want to make a quick decision and save $50 + shipping.
Read the detailed review from UrbanLifter.

The Legend bench would be around $650 shipped to you direct from the factory.

So I kind of measured the flat and adjustable db benches in my gym yesterday Greg. The flat was 17" and is actually pretty comfortable with my back. The adjustable was a little over 18" and has a fair amount of pad gap when horizontal. Even though it's only 1 1/2" taller, it's quite noticeable to me and I prefer to not use it for flat work. That being said, the CAP adjustable is 19" to the top of pad according to Urbanlifter's review and has a 2 1/4 pad gap that looks even wider in pics. It has me a little concerned. I'm kind of back to looking at the REP AB-3100 V2 without the decline feature...

That bench will serve you well. Make sure that you get the V2 model. Read below.

Call CSM Fitness Equipment in California and ask what it would cost to get the black Cybex 5435 bench shipped to you. They have a used 5435 adjustable bench for $175. That bench is the favorite adjustable bench of the majority of members in the equipment section. I believe that it is 16.5" tall. (very few adjustable benches are less than 17.5")

Here is a full commercial Nautilus F3 "flat" bench in your area for $50. My catalog says that it is 16" tall. That is a well designed flat bench. Shielded wheels, nice tucked handle, wide plates under the feet for extra stability, and perfect height. You should always be able to get your money back on that bench.
