My favourite thread. Love reading other peoples stories especially ones i can relate to, puts a smile on my face. My goal was to get fit enough so i could apply to become a Firefighter. couldent even run 200m when i started, 9 months later now i do half marathons (22+km)! the human body is ****en amazing. Befor 182cm 110kg 34%bf, Current 182cm 82kg 21%bf i also regret not taking a befor photo.
My best friend and aunt are the only people who support my change, from everyone else i knew befor and after i get this feeling of hatred from. As a result i feel guitly and even more embarrised about my body then i did when i was tubby. Befor i was much more confident, now i feel awkward at the gym when people stare me up and down or anywhere for that matter. Kind of makes me sick at how shallow people are. Makes me depressed just thinking about it
My gents are the same i think, just less flab blocking the view so proportionally it's better off.
I can see how people loose friends over such a change in lifestyle, i was the nice fat guy people kept around because i was more of a looser than they were but i personaly belive that larger people are generaly nicer than naturaly cut people because they have to work harder for their breaks, women, jobs, life. In the end you realy see who your friends are.
It was true what others told me, be prepaired for changes you never considered.

So far I have lost 39 lbs and went from obese to somewhat muscular, the treatment is noticably different. Like the time in a Publix supermarket where a lady in her 20s was checking me out with a slight blush on her face.

I went from never kissing or talking to a girl for 18 years of high school, to dating my current gf now after i lost about 60 lbs over the transition from high school to college. i'm still rly shy with people but being fit helps.
Also, whenever i have to show my id people think it's fake because i had so much pudge on my face at 16, it looks nothing like me it's scaryTransformation of the Week

Haha. Funny thing. I'm 245lbs in my ID still and now I'm pretty lean. I noticed though when I show my ID around in Canada people might be a bit surprised but not say anything, or the odd one will congratulate me on losing the weight or ask if it's really me.
When I showed my ID in Vegas though they'd freak out every time. Even to the extent of running around with my ID showing other employees. Dunno why the difference in people's reactions but I guess it's pretty flattering.History: Mar, 2001: 135lbs @ ~14% | Nov, 2004: 245lbs @ ~40% | Dec, 2006: 168lbs @ 5.5%ish | Nov, 2008: 177lbs @ 5.5%ish | Dec, 2016: 179lbs

My driver license is me when I am a bit over 280 haha. I had a few people at the liquor stores double take and ask me for some other form of identification. When I went to the casino in Windsor the security there had me sign my name 3 times on a piece of paper to prove it was really me. I will probably get a replacement within a month or so.

I've only lost about a stone, I'm down to about 15% bodyfat at 178lbs 5ft 9in.
My mum thinks i might develop an eating disorder, and my girlfriend's mum said she won't comment, as she already goes on about my girlfriend looking to thin everytime we go visit (she's not TOO thin).
My dad asks me for advice on how he could lose some pounds, a friend of parents commented i was looking lean and and friend of my girlfriends thought i looked great!
So a bit of a mix

Its actually been kinda hard for me...once I lost a majority of the weight and am now trying to push on to competition weight (another 30 lbs to go)....before when I was over weight and tossed the idea around about competeing...people were actually friendly to me and nice, like I was no threat, just that 'fat girl'....but now....that I've been starting to show some improvement, there are a lot more people stepping out of the wood work, seeming to go out of their way to try to upset me or tell me that I won't succeed....I feel sometimes like Im all alone as far as wanting to compete goes....but I just keep telling myself that I'm doing it for ME and no one else.

it's weird, when i went from 250ish to 215ish. people were like "wow you lost a lot of weight" but from 220ish down to 205ish. people are like "oh sorry hey! i didn't recognize you"

I definitely have noticed a change. I've lost almost 20 lbs in the past 2 months and it's changed how everyone looks at me. My Wife treats me differently even, she's been immensely supportive.
The crazy thing is how different I am regarded at the gym. When I first started going, people kinda ignored me. I was the odd man out, with the bouncing man boobs as I ran. But now I have more definition and I get a lot of looks while running or lifting. Kids ask me for tips, and others ask how I dropped the weight so fast. It's pretty cool, makes me feel like I am really getting somewhere.
I still have a lot farther to go, so it's always cool to get that little extra confidence booster.

This month's Muscular Development commented on a study that was performed at Dartmouth University where they interviewed over 800 students as to their sexual preferences.
Females said they would rather have sexual intercourse with a person in a wheelchair, a man shorter than them, another woman, a man with an STD (if he wore a condom), a convicted felon (not a child molester or rapist), or unprotected casual sex over having sexual intercourse with an obese man.
Men's choices weren't quite as bad. We didn't put fat girls quite as far down the list, but males treat casual sex with overweight females as kind of a use them and toss them mentality. So let's face it.........................we're pigs.
It's amazing to me that obesity is shunned so heavily by our society, yet so many Americans are obese.Semper Fidelis

If it was me taking that quiz, I'd pick the same just to screw the results. I don't take those seriously otherwise why would so many thin women be shacked up with a fatty or vice versa.
I Rep back always. Put it in comment.

Yeah man, I know how you feel.
I was fat all my life until the last 12 months or so, now I get told I really do look good nearly every time we go out (well, and I know I do ), but still, low self-esteem, very shy and unconfident. I hate that.
But other than that, my life has totally turned around. It's a great feeling to be fit, and I draw a lot of pleasure out of simple things, like buying S T-Shirts instead of XL ones. And people around me changed their behaviour towards me. No more picking, laughing, offense.
Just keep pushing.
You can and you WILL do it .Last edited by hankst; 05-28-2009 at 07:14 AM.

The difference in how you're treated at 305lbs and 200lbs is staggering. Suddenly when I was 200lbs people wanted to be my friend, would listen to my opinions, and some even wanted to make the sexy time.
I've gained and lost over 100lbs more times than any man alive should. Do as I say and not as I do.

thank you!!! I really appreciate that! =)
LOL...yeh I had that happen too, lol...kinda goes to your head sometimes...but you can't let it throw you off your original goal...mine is to compete (and place well) so I take all the compliments in stride. =)"Not ALL engineers are fat and lazy...."

I can't say I have seen any skinny women with fat guys. There will always be something along those lines as there are exceptions to every rule. But most overweight people date and or marry overweight people. And oftentimes, have overweight kids.
In many cases, women are married to heavy men who were thin young men when they married. Especially here in the US where only one in every ten thousand men over the age of 40 has a bodyfat percentage of 12% or less. So their husbands became the typical pot-bellied middle-aged American.
You want to see a sexual smorgasboard for men? Be a fit and slim 40 something. Women will gravitate to you like you wouldn't believe. Married and middle-aged divorcee's alike. They don't even care if your married. They just want to prove they still have sex appeal with a man that cares about his appearance. A lot of these women are just hitting their sexual stride and would love to have sex with a decent looking mature man with a six pack.
The 30something divorcee's are the best (or the worst depending upon perspective). They did the marriage thing and now a lot of them want to have some fun. All the sexual inhibitions are out the window.Semper Fidelis

You don't try to build a wall.
You don't set out to build a wall.
You don't say, "I'm going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that's ever been built!".
You don't start there.
You say, "I'm going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid.".
You do that every single day, and soon you'll have a wall.
