I've got really bad calluses on my hands from lifting. They don't bother me, but they scratch and snag my girlfriend sometimes. I hate gloves, but was wondering if any of you know of anything that helps?

I personally think calluses are good for a killer mentality in the gym. Arnold touched on this in his encyclopedia. However, gloves will resolve this better than anything else. You gotta consider your girl too, she don't wanna feel no ruff dude calluses. Take care of those hands bro, chicks peep the hands and nails along with the shoes.

you could try the gorilla grips if you don't like gloves: http://www.gorilla-grips.com/
You could also try using the climb-on bar, put it on before you go to sleep. Rock climbers use it to keep their hands supple but tough.

Soak your hands in hot water to loosen them up, then you can brush back and forth with a dull (not a steak) knife.
It's always worked for me, callouses are a pain in the ass when I deadlift.Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and battle when the blue blades flame and crimson, and I am content. - Conan

I just leave mine, it hurts my hands the next time I deadlift if I take them off. They're a pain, but necessary.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Really though, they are just part of the process. Use some gloves, put some lotion, or get one of those files people user on their feet and sand em down. They will just come back though, and you will have to go through the pain of getting them all over again.........best to live with it
Better yet, use photoshop to show her what you would look like without them (i.e. no muscles, fat, out of shape), then see how she feels about them! You know you have cleavage when you can hold a credit card between your pecs......change anyone?

Why are you complaing about an adaptive process that protects your skin from blistering? They arn't bad at all, quit whining about them. It's like boohooing because your skin is tanning from being out in the sun, forgeting that it's supposed to protect you from burns.
If you think you can, you will.
If you think you can't, you're right.
