My resting heart rate is 60~65/min, which should be in the "normal" range.
I can feel my heart pounding hard ALL THE TIME!! unless I'm moving.
This has been giving me trouble to fall asleep.
I've been on keto for a month. This happened to me occasionaly during the first week, but stopped right after. However, I've been suffering from palpitations again since last week.
I do at least 3 sessions of cardio each week:
1hr mod. intensity jog,
20 min HIIT,
30 min low-mod intensity jog on empty stomach, or
45 min low-mod intensity jog + 15 min HIIT.
I switch them around to make cardio less boring.
My main source of fat comes from raw walnuts. According to "The World's Healthiest Foods", 0.25 cup contains 2.27g Omega-3.
Supplements:
Centrum multi-vitamins x 1, B-complex x 1, Calcium x 2,
Salmon oil softgels x 10 (4g Omega-3, 100 calories total),
Green tea extracts x 2.
all taken daily.
I'm also taking nootropics, if they are relevant, I would post later.
My diet:
Low calory days, none traing days - [1500 calories]
first meal:
1. Whey shake (Optimum 100% Whey Protein).
2. Raw walnut 0.25 cup
second~fifth meal:
1. Casein shake (Xtreme Formulations Ultra Peptide or ISS Research Micellar Matrix ).
2. Raw walnut 0.25 cup.
3. Some veg.
High calory days, training days - [2000 calories]
first meal:
1. Whey shake.
2. Raw walnut, cheese, cream cheese, bacon, or butter.
post workout:
1. Whey shake.
2. 15g sugar from fruit.
remaining meals:
1. Casein shakes or chicken breast.
2. Raw walnut, cheese, cream cheese, bacon, or butter.
3. Some veg.
I usually workout on Mon. and Fri.
Thank you!

This is an excellent question because after beginning Keto again after not being on for a long time, I experienced exactly what you are describing! It goes away, at least it should. But it is scary from time to times. Even I can't even explain why this happens.

My hypothesis:
We know that insulin drives the sympathetic nervous system. After subjecting your body to long periods in time without it, you are getting an enhanced response to insulin sensitivity. Reactive hypoglycemia (usually 1 -4 hours after a meal) compounds this problem when stress hormones are released to try and normalize blood sugar levels due to the lack of carbs.

Maybe I should try adding certain amount of sugar post (or prior to) workout?
This diet is working well for me so far. Assuming this palpitation does not go away, I wonder if it is still healthy to continue this diet for another month?

I have this problem too when I diet too hard, especially on UD 2.0 (1200 kcal training days). The response of stress hormone release/insulin secretion in carb-ups are more acute the bigger your deficit is. Honestly, I don't think the heart palpitations are a major problem. Heart arrhythmias are usually very harmless, and it should subside as your body adapts.

I just realize that I'm taking way too much omega-3s. Seems like the recommending dosage is 1.5-3.5g a day, should be taken along with Vitamins C & E. I usually take around 15g of omega-3s/day (from raw walnut & salmon fish supp).
I will try quitting omega-3s completely starting tomorrow, see if it has anythign to do with palpitations.

I think it has to do with overly low ammounts of carbohydrates in the diet. I know for one that my body starts to overheat , I lose focus and concentration, I get dizzy, and feel heart palpitations. Now that my carbohydrate intake is much higher, I don't have too much to worry about anymore.
Try upping carbohydrate intake more. Where's your veggies!!*****/*****

i think chimp has hit the nail on the head with your problem here. From what i can tell your calories are way to low and your diet looks average at best. Up the calories eat more REAL food, it sounds like your overtraining for the ammount your eating. Also why drop your calories by so much on non training days, your body still needs food to recover. Drop the PWO shake for that day and that should get your calories down enough. The body can achieve what the mind can conceive
Great Diet + Plenty of Exercise + Plenty of Rest = Results
