All of this. I spent the first 14 years of my career in the "tradie" side of my job. It was great. You're outside, working with men, actually accomplishing something together and going home physically tired and dirty. That's what a job should be.
I got promoted and I'm mostly in a office. I work less hours for more money, but I'm miserable. No purpose, no accomplishment, you're just there. The comparison to a tranny beginning his journey isn't that far fetched lol

Jesus. I had to read that several times to make sure it wasn't meant as a troll post.
"My 4 year liberal arts degree intitles me to make more money that a skilled tradesman, yet I am having a hard time finding a job that pays more than minimum wage while the tradie is making bank. This is not fair!"________

Imagine smelling some fat office slam pigs chit at the unisex stall every day
You could be on the open road, wind in the air, wolf whistling barely legal teen girls, drinking monsters, shooting the chit with the gang, swearing, driving to different locations
^ try doing any of that sat at a cubecell

You talk about intelligence, or the lack thereof of tradies. But if they've managed to find an income rivalling that of the "more intelligent and educated professions" minus the debt and the office slave culture then realistically who is more intelligent?
There will be bottom of the barrel people who work trades, concrete labourer pushing wheelbarrows for 8 hours a day for $40-$50/hour.
But to throw a wide net over the entire construction industry and labeling them unintelligent or uneducated is laughable.
Pulling north of 150k-200k in a licensed trade in Australia is really not unrealistic in the slightest. In Australia in 2023 the construction industry had a revenue of $497 BILLION.
Imagine the revenue that wasn't book through the books as well. Tradies laughing all the way to the bank.

Bear in mind that’s the salary you would pull as an EMPLOYEE
If you are operating under your own ABN and doing property developments on the side, you’re deep into 7 figures (although many of the tradies I know hold that accumulated wealth as assets rather than cashing out for various reasons)By reading this post you acknowledge r32gojirra is an online persona and all posts by r32gojirra are satirical in nature. Tradie crew checking in. Feelsgoodman
I took a pay cut down to $25.15hr to break into heavy equipment repair, I monkey branched twice in 3 years, and now I'm making $41hr. Pay supposedly stops in the high 50's according to some of the old timers. One guy cleared 200k last year. There's money to be made if you have a good skill set, don't be afraid to move around if you can get the bumps in pay too.Misc Firearms Crew

100% - It's why I've honestly never understood the tradie hate in Australia.
If I had my time again I'd have dropped out of school in Year 10 and been qualified at 20.
I looked at mature age electrical apprenticeships mid 20s but was wary on reduced income for 4 years while getting qualified due to investment properties. No regrets though as reached great salary in a pretty cushy job doing what I'm doing, with enough spare time to manage other interests.

I'm sure supporting better labor rights, working and living conditions, education, and healthcare for blue collar workers = anti blue collar. I'm anti idiot. Unfortunately, many blue collar people are idiots. This is by design of their capitalist overlords, who robbed them of a life and a proper education.
They won't even let these people pee or sit in chairs. It's insane. Bezos has a penis rocket while his warehousers have to beg for piss breaks.

I disagree with this. There is dignity in labor. All labor is vital to society. We would be nothing without farmers, plumbers, etc. All jobs should pay well enough to live a decent life, or should be supplemented by the government to allow for a decent life. I do not look down on tradesmen even though tradie memes are funny. But they should be given a decent education, regardless. That many are uneducated is regrettable.
Pay does not reflect value to society. It only reflects market demand for what you do, which is only vaguely related to that.
Our economy has a serious problem. There are always undesirable jobs, such as being a janitor. Who is to do them? IMO people should clean their own spaces. We should have a janitorial culture where we clean up after ourselves and those who do not are shamed or even jailed. Just an example of a wage labor role being overly specialized and designated to create a lower class of people.Every person is capable of cleaning, for example. Undesirable jobs should be the shared responsibility of the beneficiaries.Last edited by GhostofCricket; 05-01-2024 at 04:49 PM.

An actual tradesperson is most likely smarter than either of you.
And actually provides value to society unlike both of you net negative leeches.
Edit : But you hit the nail on the head with your edit, so props for that.
Maybe there is hope for you after all. Check to see if there are any apprenticeship incentives in your area, would help you get back on your feet.
Edit 2 : by that I mean the second paragraph.
Why do you keep editing the same post after others have replied?
I guess all the "education", and still no common sense.
Just LOL @ educationcels srs
