Dickey Betts, on writing “Ramblin’ Man”:
In 1969, my friend Kenny “asked me how I was doing with my music & said, ‘I bet you're just tryin' to make a livin' & doin' the best you can.’ I liked how that sounded and carried the line around in my head for about three years.”
There are many great examples of his playing but Melissa is one of the most poignant guitar leads ever recorded.

Howdy MTP....steffster and AIB.
Yeah....holy shvt, I was taken aback by that news.
This hits an old fossil like me pretty close to home.
As AlB says he had a good, long run to 80.
I just turned 77 (lucky for me? Probably not) and I'll feel quite fortunate to hit that number.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Howdy AJ....
Ha....hear you.
I was never actually at the (by definition) DMZ but during my 13 month picnic but the front lines were everywhere.
I was WIA so I do feel lucky I survived that one.
I hope to remain about dirt level for a while longer.
Thanks for kind comment.
Hope all is well!USMC: 1965-1969
