Pretty sure I qualify as a gym idiot. Some actions only out of necessity though. Thanks to Planet WeDon'tHaveRealWeights. (ie bb curls in the squat rack...only if no one looks about to use it though)
Biggest thing that bothers me are these dudes who come in to workout in semi-nice clothes, and are obviously only there attempting to get attention. Doing my bench press on Monday and these two guys across the way are doing curls with the floor cable machine. Both of them hair way over gelled, wearing Guess graphic tees and bright ass Pumas that look like they just came out of the box..talking real loud about their "crazy" night out last night and continually looking over into the cardio area to see if any girls are paying attention. (The answer was always no...)
All I can say it hooray for noise cancelling earbuds.

My gym has a small back room where the big boys play, thats where the squat rack/power rack/leg sled/OLY platform etc are.
When I say this room is small, it is. There is barely enough room to get by when someone is deadlifting.
This guy come in yesterday and heads to the back room looking completely lost.
He grabs a cable row attachment (which is just a straight piece of pipe) from across the gym.
Then he proceeds to swing the damned thing around like a friggin' golf club.
Not only is this completely rude since nobody can use the area while this douchenozzle is swinging away but it's also massively dangerous.
There is no grip/knurling on the bar and the guy swinging it looks to be about 60 years old. When that thing comes flying out of his hands I can only hope to be far away when it happens. On the road to 1250

I weigh a whopping 186, but I always walk up into the gym wearing my EliteFTS shirts hahahahahaha. Granted, I'm sadly the strongest guy in my gym, but I even laugh at myself sometimes. Can't wait to find a real gym.

Today... I was the gym idiot. Doing shrugs with 125 lbs dumbells and went to sling them back onto the rack. Missed the cups for one and wound up sending it rolling back and tumbling behind the rack, clipping one of the mirrors. Instant spiderweb of cracks crawling a quarter the way up the mirror... and with people watching me do it. Daaaaaaaaaaaamn.

Gotta be those guys that have pretty solid arms, but large guts. strolling around in t-shirts too tight as to make their arms looked pumped up, but then a gut protruding out of their t-shirt. All the while doing only arm exercises and no cardio or abs work and lets not even mention legs. After a set flexing in the mirror and walking around with a head wobble. Just got to laugh at these wankers.

LMAO, nothing like a fat guy in a muscle shirt, which just shows off the gut muscle. I saw a prime example of what you are talking about today in a TAPOUT shirt. I'm sure he kicks a lot of ass. To me, it's like big fat guys that wear football jerseys making them think they look "big". No sir, it just makes you look as out of shape as you are.
The new year's resolutioners are a trip, they stick out like a sore thumb, except I doubt many of them will even be sore from the light workouts they do. I mean honestly, I don't want to critisize anyone for trying to make a change, even if it's only once a year, but to be in shape, it's a lifetime resolution and you have to actually workout at the gym, not just be there.

Most gyms around here have hired an excessive amount of trainers to deal with the New Years crowd, and it's ridiculous at how out of shape some of them are.

I just can't stay away!
Doing your dumbell workout RIGHT in front of the rack so I can't frackin put mine away when I'm done. Then I just stand there staring at the person until they notice me and move.
And I had never seen this before until tonight. Someone had wrapped two towels around the barbell while doing bench, one for each hand. I don't usually knock people for light weight, as my chest really lacks myself, but he had two tens on each side...can that really be that hard on your hands? I also feel the towel potentially slipping could be dangerous.Oops, i got fat. Trying to fix that now..

Nothing wrong with people using the mirror to watch their form on curls, plus lol @ bashing someone who was trying to be courteous to you. You assumed he was watching himself as some sort of expression of bravado/vanity and from what you posted, there's nothing that really suggests that.

You're a ****ing idiot. The mirrors are there to monitor your form. Yeah curls are quite a basic exercise so I will give you that, but he was just being polite. When I have people standing in between me and the mirror when I am deadlifting or shoulder pressing it pisses me off. Not because I am checking myself out but because I like to watch my form. He would have assumed that with you. Jackass.

Perhaps my description was a little off... I completely understand checking form in a mirror and I use them too for deads... but what this guy was doing was next level. There is no way between his stance he had and the faces he was making to himself that he was just checking form. Guess you had to be there. No offense intended sensitive brahs.

You're an idiot. So what if he was mirin himself? Did he interrupt your workout in any sense? Yes, he's an idiot for doing thinking he's all buff, but at least he did nothing to bother other gym users. At least he had the sense to not block your view, in case you wanted to use the mirror to check your form.
He was being polite towards you (and possibly other gym users) and not only did you not appreciate that, you decided that he was a narcissistic idiot who thinks everyone is narcissistic.Aesthetic Nutsack Crew

Bro... Half the posts in this thread don't have anything to do with interrupting someone's workout... Just look at all the posts about attire, only working one muscle group, etc.
And I do appreciate courtesy in the gym because it is far too rare..... If he was a regular I probably wouldn't have thought twice. I guess I'm just a little frustrated with all the resolutionists.

WTF:ed at this.
I am sad to hear that you are not used to getting respect. Of course he should move so that another person can watch his form in the mirror. It wasnt that he was mirin his gunz but rather that he wanted to check his form and let you do the same.

Old guys always supplying the lols. Today one walks up to the bench press and puts 25's on the bar, attaches bands from each side of the bench to the bar, and starts going at it. wtf you cant just put more weight on?
