Yesterday the average rate on 30-year fixed rate mortgage hit 7.08%, the first time above 7% since 2002. This is also the biggest YoY rise in mortgage rates since 1981. That year 30-year fixed rate mortgages peaked at 18.63%. Current mortgages rates still have a long way to rise

Rolled closing costs into the new mortgage so I paid nothing up front, and still lowered my monthly payment by 20+%

I had 22 yrs remaining on my 4.75% original and instead of opting for a much lower monthly payment for another 30yr, I opted for a shorter term and lowered the monthly payment by a little bit and chopped 2 yrs off
