I think it was NDT that said if the earth was the size a Q ball and we picked it up within our hand and felt it, that it would be more smooth than a real q ball. That the size ratios of all the mountains, peaks and valleys are still smaller ratios to size compared to that of a precision built q ball.

Comparing it to items with known chronological dates from history, as well as tree rings. Tree rings are in fact used to calibrate radiocarbon ages in the first place.
