From what i watched when it first went EA i'm super stoked for it, I won't play it until its 1.0 release tho. i tried to play through BG1/2 last weekend but i got ****ing frustrated with the UI and ended up googling the lore and playing pillars of eternity instead.
unfortunately the story may have aged well but gameplay mechanics did not and the entire hotkey and ui was a mess of why is this here, why do i have use my f keys to do anything, relics of an age long passed where people clicked everything.
I loved Divinity Original Sin 2 and Larian made good CRPG's with those titles, so BG3 should be alot of fun.
I will say i wish they did real time with pause combat like the originals, turn based is fun and i enjoy it but it doesn't necessarily speak to the original all that much.Last edited by LFAesthetics; 03-17-2021 at 06:11 PM.

about the only thing they share is the universe, time wise i'm fairly certain BG3 is hundreds or thousands of years after the events of bg1/2. the only reason you would want to maybe read up on the lore and story is to flesh out the significance of the protagonists and understand the classes and any sort of locations mentioned etc.
BG3 plays more like D:OS2 and you'd feel pretty at home i think if you played that game, differences being much more table top combat than D:OS2 which took a much more video gamey approach to combat/classing. I'm talking about like rolls for hits/damages/saving throws skill checks etc.

tnx.
Still have a mind to play through 1-2 though, the story, lore and the events unfolding in it's universe are very interesting. Maybe I'll just play them in the easiest difficulty and cruise through it. Kinda hurts my pride though as I always play my games on the hardest difficulty. But these type of games, like Pillars of Eternity are hard af. Playing PoE1 in easy rn.Last edited by M0nsterB0y; 03-19-2021 at 08:26 AM.
