Similar to the other topic but instead this is which vehicle was the 1st one you purchased and how much $ did you lay out? Mine was a 1969 Oldsmobile 98 with the 455 Rocket motor. Bought it off my moms uncle for $200, it was only 10 years old and in immaculate shape, still had the factory plastic slip covers on the seats. Mine was the 4 door model but was an ugly @ss shade of green and with that 455 I could load 4-5 friends easily and do burnouts for blocks.
2nd car I purchased was a 1973 notchback Mustang with a 302, paid $2300 for it back in 1980 and it looked exactly like this one except for the white sidewall tires.

1st vehicle you actually owned, and how much did you pay?

Good thread Corbi
That's some sweet rides for starting out.. Mine was nothing like that lmao..
I bought 1965 an Envoy Epic.. Guy wanted 100 bucks for it but I didn't have that so we finally settled on 50 bucks and some items I was willing to part with a box of 12 gauge shells, case of beer and an old 22 I had laying around lol
He got the better deal on that one, car was a piece of sh!t but I drove it like a rockstar.
Here's a pic of one like it, except this one looks in better shape

2000 Ford Explorer XLT
Was almost new and only cost 12K since it had been fixed a bit after a previous accident. Was nervous driving away with it from the Miami dealership since I hadn't been driving since I got my license a few years earlier. Dodgy dealership helped with some "extra services", since I hadn't built any credit yet.

Ha, mine was a 1983 accord. Paid $300 (high miles) drove it like it was a lifted Jeep for few years sold it for $300 and bought an 87 accord which I drove through college, but built a 76 Jeep CJ5 for the off road adventures back then. Accords are pretty capable off-road though, I took my 83 to some fishing spots it shouldn’t have gone. I’m not shocked that they don’t respond well to cliff diving though....

Mk IV mini (1979 sort of) but it was a Frankenstein's monster collection of parts and not anything that came out of a factory. I paid £375.
It had manual gears, manual choke (that required a clothes peg to operate it). No fuel guage, but a bit of broomstick you could dip, a bit like checking oil level, except for gas which also used for prop the hood. It had a bucket seat and tiny button steering wheel. It was a road legal go-kart.
The only problem was that the back of the car was so light (anyone could deadlift the back of the car) if you got the car fully airborne the back would kick up and you came down hard on the nose. Seeing a windshield full of road/tarmac coming towards you was terrifying and I tore off and drove over the front bumper a couple of times, then I gave up and didn't bother to refit it.
The inside was stripped out, no carpets, no glove box no dashboard no rear seats, no plastic roof liner (you could see the metal underside of the roof) even the rubber plugs in floor pan were missing and you could see road going by. The only extra was a fire extinguisher
I used to pickup hitch hikers and see how long before they changed their mind where they said they were going and asked to be let out
I had so much fun in that car, and learned a lot about motor mechanics and roadside repairs (always carried tools, but the car was so simple most things could be Jerry rigged)

1974 Impala. Paid $300.
I quickly went to work customizing it with new paint and detailing. 14 cans of Flat Black from Walmart and a dead body outline on the hood.

1977 Ford Maverick purchased in 1987 for $1,800. Looking back now, I probably got ripped off, but it had low miles around 60,000 if I remember correctly. It lasted me through high school and maybe a year beyond. I did some pretty dumb **** to it to make it "cool". I added Krager rims and tires; 245's in the rear, a nice sound system, air shocks in the rear and jacked it up by modifying the leaf springs. I did some things to the engine, but nothing crazy and added some cherry bombs and exhaust run out the side, lol.

Busta, I had a used 1974 Ford Maverick (dark brown) that I paid $1200 for. Served me for awhile and never gave me a problem. Man I miss that car.

1970 Plymouth 'Cuda 340 (3 speed auto/3.55 gear ratio).
I rescued it in 1982 from a guy who was in the process of painting it blue. His wife got pregnant and I offered him $1400 for it. I had it painted back to the original Alpine white. I eventually found the factory 15" wheels for it.
Pic taken in the summer of 1984 (the only one I could find of it).

Alfa Romeo 33 turbo diesel, don't remember the exact year but 80s.
Not even second hand, probably 3rd hand, don't remember what I paid but I was broke as phuk so a pittance.
Fun as chit to drive, built like a tank, but once they break down everything breaks down at the same time.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:

Senior in high school, I was working at Sears automotive department. Bought a used but awesome 1969 Camaro RS with the hidden headlamps, 350 for $3500.
Let my brother drive it once. Once. Totaled it. Broke my heart almost as bad as Carrie Weingarten broke my heart in second grade and that was bad. We swang together on the outdoor swing. She colored in my coloring book and I in hers. I haven't been the same since.
