A little back story, im not the man in my avi anymore, im currently 329lb, yes i put all the weight back on and yes im ashamed. I was 358lbs in 2012 and managed to get down to 190lbs over 2 and a half years through exercise and diet, cardio different programs etc. Due to a mental break down my life was turned upside down and i put all the weight back on.
So im back in the gym the last 2 months and losing weight again, way slower than before mind you, doing stronglifts 5x5 and walking. I always have anxiety and am worried about having a heart attack all the time while im lifting, because im 329lbs and lifting weights. This as you can imagine is pretty difficult to reconcile and just being in a constant fear of it isnt good, so im on here looking for something to ease my mind a bit.
Ive been with my doctor and hes done a ECG, checked blood presure done bloods and he said its all fine, my only problem is my weight obviously.
So what i want to know, is it safe for someone at my weight 329lbs at 33 years old to be doing 5 x 5s? My calculated max heart rate is 187bpm, ive been using a heart rate monitor and on my last set of 5 x 5s in squat it can go up to 150bpm. Thats 80% of my max bpm.
So anyone any advise, does this all sound ok to you or should I think about dialing it back. Please comment here as it will help me on my road to redemption.
Program im following...https://stronglifts.com/5x5/#gref
