Best option for the UFC and fans is Edgar. He's guaranteed to make weight (he walks at like 160ish) and he's a top 3 caliber fighter who's likewise very exciting. He's also very popular.

Unfortunately, this is not the best option for Conor. Fighting Mendes on short notice is one thing. Fighting Edgar is another. I don't think McGregor would take this fight.

Short-notice Cerrone would probably be hampered by his 170 escapade. Alvarez probably needs more than two weeks to come off his multivitamins. it's very disappointing, especially since he tweeted he would fight mcgregor anytime anywhere and apparently he made comments about training for ufc 196 in case something like this happened. It's understandable because there would be a big size disadvantage at 155 and it's probably not really smart to fight this fast after getting knocked out but it looks bad after those comments
