aus brah heading to vegas and LA soon and wondering isthisreallife.
i dont understand this culture, shows $100 on hotel page on the date calendar as the best rate. even though booking is 6 mth in advance, click next on the page and its now $200 minimum (imaginary prices). add $30 + $5 tax to make sure you have king bed instead of 2 queens (wtf?). select $235 room and with tax is now $280. the resort fee is $30, and tax on the resort fee is $5. so hotel room is actually $315. international transaction fee and conversion rate on this due to requirement of using a card for international visitors makes this amount about $340 USD. the booking comes with a 'free' limo transportation that i am expected to tip $20 USD each way for at minimum (why the phuck include this as 'complimentary' in the room rate then?).
brb gambling at their casino in vegas (supposed to be the hub of gambling). put money into a slot machine and win a $1200 jackpot. they give me $840 and hold onto the rest. i cannot claim it back even though i live in a tax free country. oh you didn't tip after you won a jackpot with a 10% house advantage? cheap phuck. brb table games and expected to tip bj dealer everytime you win or every 30 mins changing house advantage to 5%+ with perfect play.
brb everyone you dont tip everyone turns into a crybaby *******. oh boohoo im working a 'minimum wage job' getting $20 USD tips every hour higher than 100% of the world in the same position. im paying your tip with my wages! meanwhile employer is anal probing the staff and getting rich off their slave labour.
brb tips ensure 'amazing service'. meanwhile in syd non ******* service providing you anything you need with a smile and not expecting a cent more. great $10-12 aud meals available throughout syd, and coupons available for high quality restaurants at actual 20-30% off (e.g. red balloon, good food gift card, best restaurants gift card) vs sh*t groupon deals.
brb even fine dining will set you back only 400 aud with good food card for 2 people at Quay with better food and service. absolutely not one cent more than that expected.
pls explain how this is not retarded brahs.

Just LOL @ all the cheap mongoloids in here. Everywhere Ive been outside of the US the service is always ****! Every fukken time, even Canada. No wonder there is no tipping culture, why the fuk would you tip when you feel like the server wants to assault you? Hey, there are always exceptions US included, but still the quality of service in the US is a level above all other.

Due to excessive taxes, regulations, and forced fees of restaurants in the US (which far surpass most other countries), the average successful restaurant in the US operates on margins of 5-6%. If you want to do away with tipping in restaurants, you need to go to your lawmakers and demand that restaurants become unburdened by the excessive costs and regulation which keep their margins so low and don't allow them to operate by paying their employees more.
Until you do that, either tip at these establishments or don't go out. Doing anything besides those two options makes you a hypocrite, a *******, and likely a limp dick peasant.

the sky high costs of everything in australia still far outweigh the cost of anything in america even when you add in taxes and tips. Its not even close.
If youre in vegas tip and youll get the service you asked for and probably a little thankful boost, might be a stiffer drink the next time you buy one for example.
tips result in quantifiable/qualifiable karma so dont underestimate the appreciation the service provider has.

will easily wager that i have dined out in more restaurants this last year than your entire life combined. service gets you anything you need when you ask for it and most waiters/'servers' do a good job. and no, im not 5 y/o, i dont need someone to pour water into my cup (OMG GOOD SERVICE!!!11oneone). name the restaurants you visited with any proof that you know what they serve and have actually eaten there, and what they did that caused bad service. you probably had like one bad experience in canada and are crying about it. get over it, there are always bad eggs, or a bad server, or bad experiences. stop estatting about having eaten everywhere. and of course, look up reviews before you visit places.
calm down reading comprehension derpina, you're saying exactly what i said. the final price is different to the price quoted on the menus, hotel site etc. why play barbie pretend?
lmfao if you actually believe that sh*t i have some western union funds that need to be released
have not made up my mind, and i am going to tip. noone in here is providing reasonable arguments.
doesnt change the fact that these prices are all retard level, especially considering you have one of the most high worth currencies in the world.
and na, i won this trip from australia, with everything covered.Never been hugged crew

Wait... forgive my ignorance since I haven't been to america, but the listed price isn't what you pay?
For example f i saw a pair of shoes here in Aus for $50.00, I would pay $50.00 because our prices include tax... so in america the listed price of $50.00 is not inclusive of tax??? How do you know what you are going to be paying before you get to the register?Always pick #4 crew

I feel you Opie, never quite understood that cultural habit but I dealt with it and didn't bother to question it.
However it helped me not turning into a French typical cheapstake ******* that would never tip.
Brb impressing sloots on first date by tipping the hot waitress with 20% of the total.
Brb getting hot waitresses numbers thanks to tipping habit
Brb be a well-known client and receiving extras from staff and boss thanks to several tips over the long run.
Stop being a cheapstake Opie, be a gentleman about it.

Tax differs based on which city/state you are in. Generally speaking, sales tax ranges from 0% in some states, to over 9% in Los Angeles, which I believe is about as high as there is. So yeah, look at the listed price, and then figure out how much you'll have to pay on top of that.

really depends on what you're talking about. dining out is alot cheaper vs the food quality. even fast food is cheaper here if you really compare the prices without all the bullsh*t (there are lots of articles that dispel this myth). look at canley heights strip here with decent meals for 10-13 aud with everything covered, the various bistros with $10 AUD pub meals sides included. a variety of $20-$50 meals where you get huge servings, good quality food and pleasant service. and fine dining, good luck dining at one of the best restaurants in the world for $290 usd for 2 after tip. even seafood buffets are cheaper here.
i do agree, what america used to have was all of the material things and electronics at a much lower price. now, with the crashing aud noone ever imports from there anymore, especially with the mass amount of good sales posted on bargain communities (usually better bargains than sites like slickdeals these days). that leaves barely anything that is cheaper. if i want anything now its better to just order from HK or china or Aus itself is cheaper even considering the 'lower' prices in the USNever been hugged crew

McDonalds doesnt count as eating out so I doubt you dined out more than 3 times this last year. Good service in America goes way beyond getting what you ask for. Its people being genuinely nice to you, making you feel welcome. But it sounds like you are an arrogant douchebag. The Burger King that will be next to your 50$ a night meth lab motel here in the US will provide you with better service than anything you got in Aus

no qualms about tipping when i go to america
just when all the smoke and mirrors are removed, most people are getting severely fukked in the A and not even realising it. at least when i get fukked in Aus i realise its happening, but some of these posters are delusional about the super cheap prices and WTFOMG service due to blind country pride.Never been hugged crew
