    Taking a week off

I have read that it is sometime suseful to take an entire week off from lifting in order for muscles to completely heal. How often should this be done, and how do you know when to do it? I would assume intense soreness, plateau, etc. would be good indicators.
    I think, therefore I am.

My advice for breaks is to take them every 6-8 weeks just to give yourself a rest. You'll feel well rested and ready for another couple months of training!

Once every 2-3 months sounds about right. I have heard of "naturals" bulking for up to 12 months! So I guess it's an individual thing...

It can never hurt to take a break if you've been training hard and consistently. I've worked with guys who come back stronger than ever after 1-2 weeks off.
