Never noticed this thread, pretty interesting... since you guys had a edit of the photo I did some too
I think its a great shot, the positioning of the guy could have been better(closer to the camera to allow more color.. or just not there at all, but, thats my opinion) its still amazing none the less.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=173739861

I am fighting the urge to buy a 5Dmk3 atm. Coming into a large amount of unexpected money and my transition to a new career hasn't made it any easier. Playing around with both of them in a shop last week did not help either. Also screwed around with the Sigma 50mm ART lens as well. Good lawd it is burriful. Might get the 85mm when it comes out or a 135 if they make one.

I want to buy a FF camera for travelling and I will mainly be photographing landscapes, people and wildlife. I was considering the Canon 6D because it's cheaper than the 5D and I don't need the 5D's advanced autofocus system as I don't do sport photography. IQ is the same for both cameras. I was also considering the Nikon D610 but the sensor spot issue is still present so that's not an option. The D800/810 is too heavy, big and I don't need more than 20 MPX. What do you guys recommend?

The 5D3 is a great camera but I have a strong feeling Canon has been cooking up something special so it might be worth holding out a little longer.
It took Nikon around 3 1/2 years to respond to the 5Dmk2 and when they did (D800/D800E) it was worth the wait. Canon usually doesn't take as long as that and it's been 2 1/2 years since the D800 was first announced.
Which feature in particular has your interest? I always try to prioritize my GAS list in descending order of what will make the biggest difference to my work. I feel like the D810 might offer a 5-10% improvement over what I have. Not compelling enough. I'm also old enough to know how good we've got it as photographers right now.

Well it had better have a recipe for 4k somewhere on that list otherwise it will be like offering yesterday's technology. You will pardon me if I say Canon has nothing to fear from the new Nikon offer but it will most certainly be supplanted form top video DSLR by the likes of Sony and most certainly Panasonic if it doesn't do something soon.

Other than that, the Nikon has some evolutionary advancements in this camera, but I doubt if its enough to convince any folks on the fence to choose it over the 5D. Where it has made headlines is in its bold new step in the acceptance of third-party software. Even so, the 5D already has too much of a lead with Magic Lantern, so I don't think even that will cause any worries in the Canon boardroom anytime soon.
Where they really need to worry is from the new crop of cameras appearing on the horizon from Sony, Panasonic and even Blackmagic. And if Nikon and Canon don't wake up and realize that, they will both be losers in this new camera market. They're days of conservative camera manufacturing, are over. You'll need the 5Ds autofocus system if you intend to photograph fast moving wildlife like birds. Otherwise, you're correct, the 6D would be an acceptable alternative. But wait! What of the new 7D? It may in fact, be an even greater alternative depending on your balance between wildlife and portraits.🎥

I've been asked to shoot the product range of a local clothing company. We need some flat shots of just the product to show in the shop area of the website. Then a model will be wearing some of the clothes and we'll probably do 3/4 length portrait style shots so it should be fun!
I had a mess around tonight and I quite like this, if you lot have any ideas though it would be appreciated! It's a high quality knitwear company so wear going to focus on the small details

Awesome idea, that would make some much difference. The arms were irritating me so much whilst setting up. Cheers Bro
I'm going to have to, that's all I have!
1 strobe - created shadows on one edge - Not good enough
1 strobe + speed light into Umbrella - ok
1 strobe + speed light into Umbrella + large reflector - looked pretty good straight out of the camera, pretty much what's posted above
I think I picked the worst thing in my wardrobe as it's the biggest and bulkiest thing in there. The company makes ladies clothing so it's all going to be smaller that the Peacoat so hopefully we can make them look quite elegant.
This is another random test, strobe plus a bare bulb speedlight.
Have you done any more portrait practice yet Krane?www.AdamKappa.co.uk

As a matter of fact I have my very first serious shoot this Tuesday and I'm terrified. So far, I've only done bits and pieces of portrait work during events and a lot of candid. I was also elected to do the staff photos for the GD school I attend, but those were pretty much driver license snapshots.
This is the first time that I will be running the full set-up with everything I own and with a creative outcome in mind. I'm not sure I'll remember how to coordinate it all. Its an open shoot in the middle of a downtown plaza so a lot of people will be watching.
Since I only have one of everything, my biggest fear is that something won't work, and I can't fix it and have to call the whole thing off. I have just two models but nothing says amateur (which I am) more than something like that happening. I hope I don't mess this up.🎥
