If you go back and read the whole thing you will see that what was being discussed was using the right sugar for bottling. I shared an anecdote where the two guys I brew with used straight malto instead of our normal corn sugar and it wrecked a batch of hefe. To address the second point, technically a minute amount of secondary fermentation does occur when bottling, but it's literally only enough to carb the beer and won't affect a gravity reading at all under normal circumstances.

Is "Corn Sugar" the same as DME and the "priming sugar" sold at homebrew stores?
Dumb question I know, but I feel like I should clarify this

I wish I could still get those true brew buckets. My LHBS only sells the brewers best with the light weight lid and they suck ass. The lid lets air through the sides because theres no o-ring in there. So I have to smell the CO2 that gathers in my freezer to know if anything is going on. It will still blow off through the tube and not out of the sides though.

I know, right? The mini ones sell for like $120!
I mean, I don't have room for them in my apt, and they'd be massive overkill for the small scale stuff I brew... but chit man, I'd pick em up just to hang on to em, at that price lol
You get around to that Huna yet?Common Sense Crew

Jamm!n and Spak...
knowing what you know now, say you wanted to build a small, decent, production quality brewing system.
Assuming you were ballin-on-a-budget, what's the cheapest you could build such a system for?Common Sense Crew

got an early flight out tmrw morning so unfortunately it will have to wait until the end of the month. gonna smoke a few racks of spare ribs and enjoy fuuu outta that Huna.
im prob the wrong person to ask - i spend money on brewing crap yolo style
i'd say go eBIAB. build yourself a 220v PID system, get a cheap pump and a big pot. just build a long cord to your controller so you can plug in from your dryer's outlet.
Here is the diagram for the controller. I've built a couple of these - it's very doable.
edit: ohhh - didn't realize you're trying to go nano. i'm with flesh on that. i have seen small start up breweries get going off of half barrel systems and corny kegs with a tasting room. they were busy as heck and working full time to pull it off though.

Flesh, NJ magazine did a review on brews of summer. They actually did a review of Kane and Carton. Interesting. They didn't mention Boat Beer and the Head High (i think thats what its called) though. I am pretty sure Carton is happening this weekend.
I was really surprised that it wasn't just Flying Fish, River Horse, East Coast, etc."There are no victims, only volunteers. You volunteer by looking uncertain and afraid. You volunteer by being, as grass-eaters invariably are, unprepared to confront the hazards of life." - Col. Jeff Cooper

jamm!n, how long do you dry hop your hop bombs? Most recipes I see call for like 7 days or so. I think you mentioned a few pages back that veg flavors can develop after 48 hours. I normally leave beers in the primary for 2-3 weeks to allow yeast to do a bit of clean up, then bottle. I've been just dry hopping about a week before bottling.
