    I'm a Fat Bastard!

I'm new to knowing anything about bodyfat percentages. Never known mine, never really cared. I've always been fairly fit, though have fallen out of the routine in the past couple of years. I'm getting back into it now and used a couple of bodyfat estimators to figure out what mine was. I estimated 17%. Then I tried one of those bodyfat scales that told me it was 32%. I know they can be very inaccurate so I initially discounted that, but I double-checked some of the online calculators/estimators and I think I entered something wrong the first time. They all now tell me I'm somewhere between 29% and 33%. Egad!! I knew I had a little bit of extra weight around the middle, but I'm actually borderline obese!! I'm a fat fat bastard!! I seriously had no idea.

I've been watching my calories in the past couple of weeks, making sure I'm in about a 15% deficit, but I think I'm going to have to step it this up for awhile.

Those are very inaccurate ways to measure BF, I suggest you consult with someone knowledgable on the subject or post pics here and there are several that can give reasonable estimations.

Fair enough. They all seem to pretty much agree, though.

I can't figure out how to get my profile picture to show as my avatar. Wait, I think I can attach it…

Let me know what you think. I'm of course tightening the abs, so it doesn't look as bad as it could.

I apparently have too few posts to link to a picture, but I did just attach a picture to my last message.

Let me know what you think.

Wow you are a "fat bastard"!!! LOL!!

Just joking! I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you're not obese, I mean I know obese people when I see them and you don't look "obese" to me!!

As far as your actual BF% I'm not sure why you care. If you are carrying more BF than you want, and you obviously are, simply start a slow cut and let the mirror be your guide, you'll do fine! GL

Thanks guys. Maybe I'm fatter than I initially thought, but not as fat as a subsequently thought. The mind boggles.

Anyway, my TEE (assuming no exercise) is around 2,700. I've been eating about 2,100 cals per day for the past couple of weeks, plus whatever additional calories I "earn" through exercise (tracking everything with myfitnesspal). I'm finding that I'm not the least bit hungry, so I'm thinking of pulling back the calories a little - maybe to 1,900 - as long as I can keep my protein intake at aceptable levels. Eventually I hope to be a cut bastard.

I wouldn't personally say you were around 30% but either way, if you aren't happy get yourself a good diet plan and smash it! Good luck buddy!

20-25% Absolutely no higher, at least from what I see in the pic you posted.
