try doing chit like lurker pushes early game while expanding and macroing effectly against a terran that knows what they are doing. You literally become physically and mentally tired from it, or effectively using defilers late game against a terran. Chit will piss you off bcoz u can lose the game in a split second.

in starcraft 2 the game pretty much holds you fuking hand. no 1a2a3a4a5a6a7a8a9a0a, no macro needed, no micro needed, just select your entire army and attack said object and do a minor bit of micro to win game.

How can you compare a game with about 6 buttons and a mouse click to star craft which uses probably around 40+ key combinations and bindings? As well as how slow dota matches are in comparison to sc and the fact you control one person v 100's of troops + keeping resources etc build and going?

LOL at people saying dota is harder than starcraft. The reason people even play dota is because they get ladder fear trying to hit even poverty-gold league in SC 2. There is no comparison, sc2 is hands down a more skill-oriented game than any of the DOTA/LOL types.

not to mention 1 well placed storm in broodwar could gg your entire army and cost you the game. In sc2 storms are just wet noodles dropping from the sky.

More or less agreed, but SC2 still does take a lot of skill to be good at. Comparing Broodwar to Heart of the Swarm is apples to oranges. Sure, same franchise; but two completely different games.

I would say Starcraft 2 is by far the most difficult RTS and would definitely be in the top 5 mainstream games right now. As others have stated, you have to be doing a lot of things AT ONE TIME and be good at all of those things to be good at this game. It requires an immense amount of concentration, critical/quick thinking and strategy and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in the matter of seconds. It's been called the modern day chess.

From someone who has probably spent more than double as much time as anyone else in here on Blizzard games, sc2 probably is the most difficult to master. Yes, brood wars was more difficult, but that's only because it had less hotkeys to work with. My personal favorite was wc3. Literally ruined my college career, but obtaining rank 1 on the east coast was one of the GOAT feelings. Still will never forgive Blizzard for ruining the AMM to cater to noobs. WoW and d2 were both amazing games as well. D3 was garbage.

lol, SC2 is cake mix compared to BW. In BW you couldn't just gather all protoss units in 1 group and a move. You could only group 12 units in a group. Control was actually incredibly difficult. Also when casting spells, you couldn't just select all your casters and cast, or else they would all cast, had to select one by one. Also could not put buildings in control groups, each worker had to be manually put on minerals when made, just everything is so much more difficult.

Even the pro's spam. But they have a method, and cycle through hotkeys. The real apm spam happened in wc3, game had absolutely no macro to talk of and most APM was 1-2 spam between armies or rax/sanctum spam.

"freeclicking" is basically APM spam but if u ever listened to a pro interviewing, they did they to keep their fingers and mind active and constantly focused.

its really just the general masses (non-progamers) who got obsessed with having omg200+apm so that people could mire their stats in replays

Apm is consistent average, hence, actions per minute. During peaks in battles that's different.

During my wc3 days I was hitting 150+. Still better than 99.9% of the community, but the top dogs would hit in the 220s, like qazzi grubby and showtime.
