Do you guys agree with George Leeman here at 1:20?
I don't about you guys but I was able to relate 100% to this part. Though I am happy about some things in my life, I'm definitely unhappy about a lot and powerlifting is the place where I funnel all my anger and aggression (especially deadlifting). I actively use it to take out my aggression. Sometimes when I'm pissed of about something during the day, I'll say to myself, "I can't wait until deadlift day."

I think when you look at the most dedicated and driven athletes in all sports you tend to find unhappy, unsatisfied people. not 100% everyone of them, but a lot of them for sure. whether its unhappiness with thereselves, there situation, or the people around them. Instead of just crying about it and living with it though, these athletes use their anger in a positive manner to better their situation or atleast try to.

I heard powerlifters live under wooden bridges and carry clubs and they won't let you cross the bridge unless you give them an offering of fish.

I think in order for George to be at the top of his game and to reach the top spot he wants, he needs to be unhappy. It's what drives him to sacrifice everything for his one goal. As for the general powerlifter, well we all have different things that motivate us so I don't think you HAVE to be an unhappy person, you just need something to drive you to make sacrifices and to train as hard as we do.

Im a mixed bag. Im generally happy & joking but certain things make me snap really quick. I kind of have an inner "intensity" that I let out during lifting. I guess you could call it angry

After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

you doin monty python?
i was doing monkey island.
I personally disagree with george on this OP.Iam subscribed to him on youtube and like his videos but with him you seem to get a blend of wisdom beyond his years and hormonal immaturity about wanting to kill himself and how everyone thinking hes a piece of **** reflecting his low self esteem.
which is pretty stupid considering he has more nuthugging zealots than that hale bop comet heavens gate cult.(remeber that ****,i mean the guy hacked his own genitalia off).Magic wand,MAKE MY MONSTER GROOOWWWW!!!!!!!!-Rita Repulsa

I'm pretty angry and unhappy. I'm still nice to people though. But it's one of the things that if you have to explain, they wouldnt understand....

Don't get me wrong though guys. I'm not saying that I'm unhappy all the time. i'm not even unhappy all the time in the gym. but when i'm wanting to get ready for a pr attempt I try to use all the bull**** that i've been through as motivation to smash the weights.

lol at people in this thread who live in first world countries and complain about being "unhappy." Take a trip or at least educate yourself about what it's like in some third world countries (where massive populations live in btw). Not only would you not be lifting at a gym, you'd be lucky to even have basic (sh*tty) food to eat and half-clean water to drink.
Like seriously, there's an endless number of people who would kill each other to have half of what one of you ("unhappy") guys have here.Licensed Medical Doctor

im a happy person, i try to stay as happy and chilled out as possible during my life outside the gym, not sayin there isnt **** that pisses me off, In the gym IMO anger can be a great thing, and i feel like going to the gym keeps a lot of anger out of my regular life which is good, everything has its place even anger.

I am always in a great mood when i lift and the rest of my life is low stress. Whenever im in a **** mood and try to lift, it screws with my focus. Bringing intensity to a session and being angry should be two different things.

It all comes down to ppl wanting a "hard luck story".u can usually gauge someones maturity by how they take seedy life experiences and claim that they're evolved because they exposed themselves to such a large amount.
like: I've done every drug or alot of certain kinds, i've had sex with soo many women or had an incredible amount of exotic or wild sexual experiences, I've been in so many fights or other violent involvements or gang and penitentary ****.
or u get the "my dad was not their or he was abusive etc".its hard lucks stories or pity parties.
And the only thing everyone else can do is wait for the messiah (ME) to regain his full power after having defeated Cthulhu 50 eons ago so i can subjugate all the pathetic mortals of the world at turn them into something akin to domesticated housecats.
be patient my child and keep the candle burning on my shrine.Magic wand,MAKE MY MONSTER GROOOWWWW!!!!!!!!-Rita Repulsa
