Finished it yesterday and instead of making a new and unnecessary thread about it like a *******, I decided to be a sick kunt and post in the established thread.

Just wanted to say, absolutely amazing show, right up there with the best of them. Can't wait for season 2.

just finished. a lot of the things were "predictable" (the reason why the partners break up, the lawnmower guy...its always the guy they show at least once but dont really go into detail about). but i dont think the show was really going for the element of surprise.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, been a while since I watched it. I'll try and be concise

- The show starts with Dora Lange being murdered
- The investigation of this murder leads to Reggie Ledoux (the meth guy and his cousin)
- When Marty and Cohle search their premise they find a kidnapped girl and one dead (iirc) and Marty shoots Reggie and then they set everything up with the AK's and stuff to make it look like a shootout
- Considering Ledoux mentioned Carcosa and the like, and they found kidnapped girls at their place, they assumed they also murdered Dora Lange
- Fast forward a few years and Cohle is interviewing a suspect who confesses to a crime and then tries to bargain and mentions that they never caught the Yellow King, and that he's still out there killing
- This results in Cohle trying to find the real killer, and becomes obsessed, hence why he is a drunk in the present day
- He convinces Marty that they never caught the right guy, they do some more investigating and get led to the real killers house. He's clearly a bit nutty and is the one doing the ritualistic murders.
- So I;m assuming the two drug making hillbillies (Ledoux's), probably conversed in the same circles as the cult and all that Carcosa stuff, but ultimately they were separate murderers from the main killer who we see at the end
- Rust and Marty mention at the end that the cult is much larger, but they can't get everyone. So the show didn't really explore the full extent of the cult.


Rust doesn't notice it because he had a beard covering the scar and he was also sitting down on a lawnmower so he couldn't see how tall he was.

San Francisco is the only place that comes to mind really. not sketchy but has a nice atmosphere for a possible murder mystery. Oakland if you want to get really gritty/ high homicide rates

In a recent interview with public radio program “To the Best of Our Knowledge,” Pizzolatto revealed that in the new season’s current form, “we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California — not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California — and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one.”

He added, “The characters are all new, but I’m deeply in love with each of them. We’ve got the entire series broken out with a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting in earnest in the coming months.”

The show’s anthology format means that season two will be entirely self-contained and distinct from its freshman year, with no plans for season one stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson to return — something that differentiates the series from FX’s “American Horror Story,” which recycles actors from past seasons in new roles.

Pizzolatto previously told HitFix that “True Detective” season two would be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”

Last week, rumors circulated that “Zero Dark Thirty” star Jessica Chastain was offered a role in season two, but the actress denied the buzz on the red carpet at Cannes. “It’s an awkward thing because when all that attention happens — it takes away from whoever plays the role,” she said. “I’m a big fan of the series. I’m going to watch the second season just like I watched every episode of the first.”
