I take Manu to be a pretty humble guy. People can confuse things and think that one can't be confident and humble at the same time, but if someone is of good character then I think they can. I imagine he doesn't view himself as any different than anyone else. Everyone has their own choice in how they want to better themselves, if someone chooses to spend their time writing instead of lifting then who are we to decide who is superior. IMO, self betterment in any form is respectable. And while I feel that physical growth is a great avenue to seek that(both in terms of physical, mental, and spiritual development) I don't think that it is necessary for someone to be a good, genuine person. Everyone should take pride in themselves and the positives they are working towards, but they should not ever be completely satisfied with it.

My fb status today actually was kind of about this. > To be perfect is a matter of realizing the beauty in fallibility and weakness, seeking to correct them, but understanding their permanency.

Also, I realize I'm ranting this is what happens when I'm in my postworkout delirium.
