MuscleTech Amino Build & Hydroxycut Hardcore Elite Log - Shredded Summer

Brakh here, and I will be logging MuscleTech's Amino Build White Grape and Hydroxycut Hardcore Elite.

I haven't tried either of these products in the past so I'm really looking forward to putting them to the test. I've been gradually dropping weight for the passed year or so and have gone from around 235 pounds down to 175 at the moment. Looking in the mirror, it is about that time for me to get shredded for the summer now that I've leaned out quite a bit.

In my log, you can expect to read my experiences with the products, my training schedule and details of workouts, what I eat, and view the pictures I will be taking of my physique to note improvements.

While I'm waiting for the product to arrive, here's a before and after pic from my BodySpace:

I'll be updating my log at least four times a week so be sure to stop in and check things out.

    They have arrived...

The directions for usage of Hydroxycut Hardcore Elite starts you off with 1 capsule 1 x daily for the first couple days to asses tolerance and increases the dosage with continued use. Each serving should be taken 30 to 60 minutes before your largest meals of the day. It doesn't say how much time should pass in between doses and since my two largest meals aren't back to back, I'll stick with breakfast and lunch.

For Amino Build (Green Apple) there are 3 ways to consume it depending on your goals (a serving is 1 scoop mixed in 8 oz. water or 2 scoops in 16 oz. for full effects). You can either take it: (a) Two hours before your workout/activity for Improved Energy and Endurance; (b) Consume during activity and post workout for Strength and Recovery; or (c) Mix in a jug of water and drink it throughout the day if you want to increase your daily BCAA intake without the extra calories you'd get from multiple protein shakes.

I will be starting off with 1 scoop of Amino Build to test the waters and see how I feel compared to 2 scoops. As for the Hydroxycut Hardcore Elite, I'll be sticking to the directions printed on the label.

Will update later with my initial thoughts and training routine.

    *Update*

I'll start with my initial thoughts on the HHE. Like Morpheus said in the Matrix, "You take the blue pill; the story ends... You take the red pill; you stay in wonderland..." So I went ahead and took my first dose of the red pill this morning around 10 am. Soon after I did feel some affects, mainly focus and relaxation initially. I went to the gym a couple hours later and noticed a difference with my energy levels, it wasn't major but still there for have taken only 1 pill. This allowed me to take shorter breaks in between sets and push myself a bit harder. And that's always fine by me.

I used 1 scoop of Amino Build and sipped on it during my workout. It mixes instantly and tastes pretty good (more like a creamy green apple). Since it's a BCAA supplement, I don't expect it to have an immediate impact on performance levels or your state of mind. The bottle states increased endurance if taken 2 hours prior to cardio but I can't comment on that since I didn't do any cardio and took it during my session. I'll be sure to test out that aspect when I go bike riding though.

Today I worked on shoulders. It's a light day for me since my left rotator cuff is always giving me problems but I try my best to work around it using less weight and more sets.

    Routine:

    Standing DB Presses
    25lb x 12
    30lb x 12
    35lb x 10
    40lb x 10
    50lb x 6
    50lb x 3
    40lb x 8
    35lb x 8

    ISO Seated Behind Neck Presses
    45lb x 10
    55lb x 10
    60lb x 10
    65lb x 8
    70lb x 8

    ISO Seated Presses
    90lb x 10 (2 sets)
    115lb x 8 (2 sets)

    DB Front Raises
    20lb x 10 (5 sets)

    Rear Delt Fly (Machine)
    130lb x 12
    140lb x 12
    150lb x 10
    160lb x 10
    130lb x 8

    BB Shrugs
    225lb x 12 (4 sets)

That's about all I have for today. As always, feel free to share your thoughts or suggestions.

    Day 3:

I was off from the gym yesterday. Since I started this log in the middle of the week, I'll outline my training split (I do switch the days around sometimes but it's usually in the order below).

    Mon: Chest + Triceps
    Tues: Back + Biceps
    Wed: Legs
    Thur: Shoulders
    Fri: OFF
    Sat: Full Body/Heavy (minus shoulders)
    Sun: OFF

Since it's my third day on Hydroxycut Hardcore Elite, I've upped my dosage from 1 pill 1x daily to 2 pills 1x daily before meals as outlined on the label.

For the Amino Build, I put 2 scoops in my half gallon jug and drank it throughout my workout.

Energy level during my workout today was through the roof, seriously. I just wanted to keep going harder and heavier with every exercise I did.

    Here's what today looked like:

    Chest
DB Flat Bench - 4 sets, 3 to 6 reps
    Cable Fly's - 4 sets, 8 to 10 reps

    Back
Bent Over DB Rows - 3 sets, 8 to 10 reps
    T-Bar Rows - 3 sets, 8 to 10 reps
    Standing Lat Pull-downs - 3 sets, 6 to 8 reps

    Legs
Inverted Leg Press - 3 sets, 6 to 8 reps
Lying Leg Curls - 4 sets, 8 to 10 reps
(somehow I forgot to do calves but did raises when I got home on a stair using body-weight)

    Biceps
Sanding DB Curls - 5 sets, 3 to 6 reps

    Triceps
Standing Triceps Dips - 4 sets, 8 to 12 reps

And that's what my session looked like today.

Thank you for the kind words guys!

    *Update*

I haven't discussed nutrition at all so I'd like to give a brief breakdown of my caloric intake and the macro-nutrients it consists of.

As stated in my very first post, I've been slowly dropping weight for over a year now on keto and have adjusted my cals as needed. I've stalled about 3 times but have just kept at it knowing a better physical me is right around the corner. Recently, I made a switch over from CKD (cyclical ketogenic diet) over to my own macro ratio. I was able to create my own ratio simply by paying attention to my body and the way it reacts to the things that I eat. And based off of my observations, I tweaked the basic 40/30/30 to a ratio that keeps me happy and full.

    Daily Caloric Intake: 1900
    Macro Ratio: 30% (143g) Carbs / 35% (74g) Fat / 35% (166g) Protein

    Day 5

Upped my dosage for HHE once again, currently at 2 pills before meal 1 and 1 pill before meal 2. After Day 6 the dosage will be increased once more but remain the same at 2 pills 2x daily. With the higher dosage I did notice a physical effect in addition to the already high levels of energy and, it's... sweating. Yes, it is summer time, hot and humid, but I was just completely drenched and dripping everywhere. It started almost immediately after my first warmup set and lasted throughout my entire workout. Don't worry, I made sure to wipe down the equipment after use.

As for amino build green apple, same as usual, 2 scoops in a half gallon jug that I drink while working out. I really do enjoy the taste and find myself chugging it down in between sets. I can only imagine what amino build white grape tastes like.

My session for today was Chest & Triceps:

    Chest
Iso Incline Press - 4 sets, 8 to 12 reps (pyramid up in weight each set)
Chest Press - 7 sets, 6 - 10 reps (pyramid up in weight and then back down)
Iso Wide Chest Press - 3 sets, 6 - 8 reps (pyramid down in weight)
DB Flat Bench - 3 sets, 3 - 6 reps (pyramid down in weight)
Cable Flys - 4 sets, 10 reps (pyramid up in weight)

    Triceps
Standing Triceps Dips (machine) - 5 sets, 6 to 12 reps (pyramid up in weight and then back down)
Standing Dumbbell Triceps Extension - 4 sets, 6 - 8 reps (pyramid up in weight)
Standing One-Arm Dumbbell Triceps Extension - 4 sets, 3 - 6 reps (pyramid down in weight)

    Cardio
    Mowing my lawn (push mower)

Feeling great! I don't feel tired at all and muscles seem to be recovering fine. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't think I've experienced any prolonged muscle soreness since I started taking Amino Build. I'll make sure to pay more attention to recovery time so I have a solid answer.

    Day 6

HHE dosage is still the same as yesterday. I feel like it had a greater affect on my heart rate today than before so I took longer rests in between sets. It was hot, humid, and the power went out in the gym so the fans weren't running, I was just completely drenched.

Amino build is doing me good, I have just the slightest amount of soreness in my chest and triceps, but only if I flex hard. Before I started taking amino build I would have been pretty sore right now.

Session was as follows (Back & Biceps):

    Back
    Pullups (50)
    12
    10
    10
    8
    7
    3

    Barbell Rows
    145lb x 10
    195lb x 10
    215lb x 10
    195lb x 8

    Standing Lat Pull-downs
    100lb x 10
    125lb x 10
    135lb x 10
    150lb x 8

    Seated Close Grip Lat Pull-downs
    130lb x 12
    140lb x 10
    150lb x 8

    Bent-over DB Rows
    80lb x 10
    90lb x 10
    100lb x 8

    Bent-over T-Bar Rows
    135lb x 10
    160lb x 8
    135lb x 7

    Biceps
    Standing DB Curls (Drop-set)
    50lb x 4
    45lb x 5
    40lb x 4
    35lb x 4
    30lb x 3

    Reverse BB Curl
    35lb x 8
    45lb x 8
    55lb x 6
    35lb x 7

    DB Concentration Curl
    20lb x 7

    20lb x 5

    DB Hammer Curl

    Day 9

Finally able to get back into the gym after 2 unplanned days off. I was busy and couldn't find time to get my session in but it's all good.

HHE dosage is now at 2 pills 2x daily. I've gotten used to the energy levels, pretty much accustomed to it.

Amino Build is still tasting great, not getting tired of the flavor. Recovery is also on point and I've been considering upping my workload in the gym.

Since I couldn't get into the gym for a couple days, my split has been rearranged. Today I worked on legs.
