Imports from China. It's literally impossible to find anyone in the USA making competition plates. The guy we found though really knows his stuff and all he does is bumper plates and related products. He created a machine that all it does is simulate dropping a bar with plates and it does this thousands of times to test the durability of the plates. The Elites are rated for 30,000 drops before failure which is why we offer a 5 year warranty with them.
We've got a couple of good collar options. If you want our high-end ones, those are Prolocs. Very durable, very secure. They're up on our site now. We've got some heavy-duty spring clips with rubber grips on the way with the bars too as our inexpensive option. The pic on our site isn't them, just a placeholder until they arrive and we can take pics.
The bar is also an import, although if you search hard enough, you can find quality manufacturers. I'm hoping the video and pics we put up next week will speak for themselves.www.repfitness.com - Gym equipment manufacturer.

thx for the response. those collars are interesting. I would be interested to see how they compare to the lockjaw for non-standard bars, since they're both at a similar price point. muscleclamps are worthless on my "fat bar" and i'm afraid the 2" spring clamps i bought from home depot are going to one day pop off and take one of my eyes out (srs).
actually, though, i was asking to see if you had anything in the works akin to one of the elite collars by werksan, ivanko, etc.
EDIT: I found this info

They definitely have them in. They have some new pictures and a video

The knurling looks interesting and can't wait to get it. Looks pretty flat? The sleeves look smooth and not ribbed at all? My order still show's processing and I'm sure they are busy with their new store front.Last edited by Jason2459; 04-30-2013 at 10:11 PM.

Just got word that all the new bars have been inspected for quality and mine is on its way. Also, was told the knurling is a lot like the Pendlay's which unfortunately I don't have any hands on with so I still don't know what its like. I'm pretty excited.

I definetly will, the good and bad whatever they may be. If I get it Friday I'll be doing some light pulls on Sunday and some heavy ones on Wednesday. I should have some video and first impressions after that. Also got some new collars to go with them to help snug up the plates. The Ivanko coc 2.5kg which will look awesome on that bar.

I hate to be the always critical flaw pointer outer but after watching that vid I'm thoroughly unimpressed. I'll just go ahead and say it..
That sleeve action looks and sounds pretty awful and I can see several flaws in the coating. I'm not sure how a company can get away with calling a bushing bar with sleeve rotation that bad an "Elite Olympic" bar. I'm also not a fan of Senor kettlebell endcap but that's the least of my worries.
On the plus side, the knurl pattern looks very well cut and the shaft specs are pretty impressive. Keep fine tuning the bar Rep.
EDIT: Maybe my criticisism is a little strong for a bar at a $289 price point.. maybe not. *shrugs*
Either way, without improving those sleeve assemblies, I don't see this being anything special. Fix those and you've got a hell of a bar for the price.Last edited by BloodType3R; 05-01-2013 at 07:26 PM.

^Strange, maybe I need to re-do the video. It could be that either reflections or the oil it is packed in for shipping are showing up in the video. Regarding the sleeve rotation- I'll have to put it side-by-side with some other bars and do a comparison, because the rotation is roughly the same as the Pendlay HD that we have, and it is virtually silent. Are you maybe hearing the rack move a bit when I spin it?
It's definitely a mixed-use bar though, hence the dual knurl markings. If you're going for pure Olympic lifting, then you'd probably want a bearing bar which would cost significantly more than the $289 this bar is priced at.
*edit* I just re-watched the video and maybe I'll try to re-do it and take out some of the variables, because in person the rotation is smooth and silent. In the video I think the plate is tapping against the rack and making it sound like has a crappy bushing. I'll pay more attention to the sound this time because when I created the video I was only paying attention to the actual rotation, which was smooth.Last edited by dukenukem7777; 05-01-2013 at 07:36 PM. To me having really only experience with powerlifting specific type bars those sleeves seemed pretty quite and smooth to me. Having no ribbing those sleeves will show scratches preety easily I would imagine.

If you watch the vid in the highest resolution and size you can see the sleeve bobbing up and down loosely on the shaft. It just looks to me from this one video that the sleeve is not at tight fitting as it could be and that the bushing and or bore are not perfectly aligned.
The "donk.. donk".. donk" sound that you hear in the first spin shot is a telltale sign of sleeve wooble.[̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] Equipment Crew #57 [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅]

I'll just go ahead and put this disclaimer out for the readers who are non-regulars of the Euipment Forum and aren't familiar with me:
I'm an extremely finicky individual when it comes to this stuff. A flaw probably looks 10x worse through my eyes than it will through the average user's. This bar has been receiving extremely high praise up until this point so my comments are in the context of expecting top top notch.
Just telling it how I see it...[̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] Equipment Crew #57 [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅]

I should point out that much of my criticism comes from what I consider this bar to be used for. When I see dual rings, I think "Crossfit bar". When I think Crossfit, I think "Olympic lifts". When I think Olympic lifts I think "smooth and effortless sleeve rotation" (ideally).
For this bar, I was hoping to see an Olympic bar with a set of power rings added to it but maybe my expectations of what this bar is about are a bit off.
I'm admittedly not a huge fan of the multipurpose bar because I want it all and I'd rather have two (or more) bars that excel in their intended usages even if they suck at something else. A multipurpose (such as this one) bar is all about compromise and being great at lots of things but phenominal at nothing. I'd personally rather not go that route but it does make sense for plenty of individuals.
Exactly. In an Olympic lift, the effortlessness/smoothness/bind-free spin of as little as a half of a rotation is much more important than how long it continues to spin.[̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] Equipment Crew #57 [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅]

Yeah I'm coming from a purely powerlifting aspect and do some light oly type lifts for conditioning. I want to be able to do some heavy powerlifting type pulls with it and light oly lifts. I can see the concerns for someone wanting a bar more specific for weightlifting then powerlifting.

Probably but not neccessarrily.
That's the thing.. It would be extremely hard to standardize a test that mimicks the rotation in an O-lift. It's not actually the spin of the plates that you test but the spin of the shaft while the plates stand still. Think about what happens in the Clean as you shoot the elbows under at the time of racking the bar on the shoulders. You want to feel no drag.
Watch the "ELEIKO"font on the plate stand still even though the shaft is rotating. I cant think of a way to standardize a test for that other than feel. Long spinning may coorelate but may not also.[̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] Equipment Crew #57 [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅]

The bar looks pretty good to me. Video can be deceiving in both good and bad ways so I take it all with a grain of salt.
That Cap bar in the video above I did awhile back has that "clank" to it. It still spins better than any other bar I have though (exept maybe the Sorinex Performance Bar).
The video does record time of spin which I agree is 100% useless information. But it does demonstrate friction between the sleeve and shaft, which is basically constant whether its a 1/4 turn or 1000 turns. I have heard that too much "spin" can be bad and lead to "counter rotation" during oly lifts.
As a powerlifter, you may find a Pendlay "like" knurl very soft. It's not bad, but it may more suited for someone using a hook grip.
Looking forward to seeing this Rep bar in person()---() York Barbell Club #30 ()---()
