Whats up guys. Don't know if i am allowed to make threads in here, i am only 19. But i comment on another thread and a few of the members said i was more than welcome to post in this section, so hopefully i'm allowed.
Anyways
I hit 190lbs 2 days ago, so i tried today. and got 195lbs. Went up alot easier than last time. I then hit 185lbs for 4 reps, after. What do you guys think? Is this strong for 19 years old and 185lbs? I plan to go for 205lbs on wednesday, i think i can hit it

Nice lift. Impressive starting from the bottom of the lift.
2012 was a year of on and off training due to miss-hap's. I had broken ribs, pulled something under my shoulder blade. Then had a total hip replacement. Got soft around the edges. Now time for a comeback. 1st year in. So far things are going great!!
April 11th 2014 double bypass surgery. So another set back grrrrrr.

If you goal is to press heavier than last time, and this is heavier I'd say it's a good lift and progress is always good. Being strong is relevant. Don't worry about bench marking your strength with how old you are. Just worry about progressing from where you are now.
Good job.☻/

That's a good press, unorthodox way to do it. What's up with the brag line about 18.5 arms, you don't have them. I looked at your transformation thread and it said 17.5, not sure I see that. One thing about coming in here, don't be blowing smoke you will get called on it.

Nice lift OP, especially at 19 years old.
Gonna have to see a tape measure on the 18.5 inch arms though.STAND TALL AND SHAKE THE HEAVENS!!

Why not do them standing strict? More muscle recruitment in most cases.
Numbers are numbers, just train safe no need to always chase the max.
Edit just saw you 190 military. Would think seated you should be doing 225+.Last edited by polishedball; 04-09-2013 at 10:03 AM.

Just a little excited....but were not we all at that age?... Good for him.
As for the 18.5" arms....well....Maybe he was fatter when he wrote that

6months ago, mid bulk. Around 191lbs at the picture. Bulked to 203lbs. remeasured them they were 18.5inches.
In the picture is 18inches. The picture makes my arm look bad, but its like that because i had to zoom in, and the lighting was awful. Here is another picture. Note both pictures are taken the same day.
But ya here is the picture. My arms are the strongest part on me, aside from my chest. Wasn't meaning to brag at all. I measured them they said 18.5inches, so i put it in my sig.No brag just proud of them

The reason why i posted in this section, was that i am deathly scared of hurting my shoulders.
i have talked to people before who hurt their shoulders and they said its awful, cant do any pressing at all
I find this section. The over 35 section, as by far the most vetern guys on this site. I figured if anything was wrong at all with my form, u guys could give me some good info, and u guys did.
I am often in this section reading, and obtaining a ton of knowledge, i just never post, because i figure u got to be 35 or over, or people get mad.

Like I said, you have a great build. Better then me at 19 for sure!
As for form...etc. I would avoid 1rm's unless that is part of your goals. I also agree with doing the standing version. For pure mass, I like a push press. Move arms in closer and bring the weight down on your lats.
You are a big kid already. Great genes. Stay healthy, lift with good form and dont do stupid things trying to impress others. Screw what other people have to say. In the end you will find everyone is going to bi!ch about something.
Gym lifts are just that....gym lifts. Cool to put up PR's...etc. Do some PL meets if that is a desire. Then there is no arguments from the peanut gallery.
All in all.....you are miles ahead of where most of us were at your age. Heck, you are miles ahead of many of the grown men on here now. Just stay smart.....and stay safe.RAW lifts

All I have to say is you are doing it right kid. Keep it smart and you will be fine. And yes, the O35 section is great for learning since most of these guys have been doing this for years (not me, but everyone else. lol) I wouldn't be afraid to post as long as you try to keep it mature enough that we can't believe that your only 19. Most kids your age are just dbags and think they know life imo.
ps - I think some people get butthurt over the 18.5 arms thing since they may be lacking, but hey, I have small arms and it is what it is. Just glad to see someone taking advantage of decent genetics and being a smart kid for a change. Just don't get stupid on us and try and be he-man one day and injure yourself bad. Lift right and progress in a smart manner and you should stay injury free for the most part.
