Hey everyone,
at first, english is not my first language, so please bare with me.
A little background about me:
I am a guy, 21 years old and at the beginning of 2012 I decided to lose weight, because I was very obese, and hated they way I looked and felt, at that time my weight was around 300lbs, and my height was/is 5',8/177cm. So far I have lost 110lbs, so my weight right now is around 200lbs, but I am not happy yet, my goal is to get to a somewhat low bodyfat, which I can be comfortable with (maybe 15% or less?I don't know yet), so I am thinking weight wise I should get to about 150lbs.
Why did I choose PSMF?
I just want to get done with dieting as fast as possible, and reach a physique that I can be happy with, and PSMF seems perfect for that. I read tons of stuff about it (really TONS, from science to logs and also the book by Lyle Mcdonald), and I decided this is the way to go for me.
I am actually in the diet since the 29th december, but I had a "mini-cheat" yesterday, basically a few drinks at new years, but only that, nothing bad to eat or anything.
So this is my start data,
Weight: 203lbs
Waist: 106cm
Chest: 103cm
Thigh: 60cm
Arm: 37cm
Nutrtion:
I eat about 120gr of protein, in form of casein shakes, meat, fish etc., so the calories are around 500-600.
120gr does not seem much, but I should mention, I do not lift weights, I only play soccer twice a week, so I think this amount is ok(1,5 - 1,7gr per kg of lbm is recommended), especially since my body still has lots of fat reserves.
I might do clean refeeds, when the progress is stalling.
I will also take a multivitamin, fish oil, and calcium.
I plan on doing this diet until I reach a bodyfat which I am somewhat happy with, after that I plan on switching to keto, to maybe lose the last few pounds(depends on what body fat i have), but even when I reached my goal, I will stay keto/low-carb afterwards, because I do MUCH better without carbs, in every aspect. (I am very interested in this topic, read a lot of stuff about it, and I think keto/low-carb will be a lifestyle for me)
Why am I doing this log?
I think this log will keep me motivated, and that is a big reason why I am doing it. And of course its always nice, to talk to people about this, getting their input, and just not feeling so "alone" on this whole diet thing, and I can also improve my english.
I will log my weight every 1 or 2 weeks, tell you how I am feeling on this diet, and maybe some personal stuff.
I also made pictures, and I will upload them, when I finished this diet, so that I can have before/afters.
Thanks to everyone that will be reading, and I hope my english is not too bad!

You are right, I should start with lifting, I have some weights and a bar at home, so I should be able to do a full body workout, maybe 2-3 times a week?
I will definetely look into it!
I also checked out your log, good stuff!
So far I am feeling fine on this diet, I will try to switch things up eating wise, so I wont get too disgusted by the food.
I can definetely tell that I lost a lot of water, and whenever I feel "bad", I just drink chicken broth for the salt, and usually I am fine after a hour.

Almost a week in, and I can tell that my jeans is getting a bit loose.
Going good so far, had chicken and a shake yesterday, I think the same for today, maybe some shrimp, calories are always between 500-600, 120gr P, 10gr F, 10g C
Also, I NEED to make sure I get enough sleep, yesterday I did not sleep much, so I felt pretty crap for the day(and I was thinking that was because of the diet), this night I slept like 10 hours, and I am feeling great!
Surprisingly the cravings are not really there, and I am feeling pretty good overall, I think I will do a weigh in on the weekend.
I will also look into a good full body workout, something like this maybe? :
Deadlift, Shoulder Press, Curls, Kickbacks, Crunches ... I might be able to add Bench Press, if I can set it all up with my bank at home.
I know its not optimal, but I dont feel like joining a gym yet, so I try to make the best out of it at home.Last edited by GTO91; 01-03-2013 at 05:09 AM.

Ugh, tried to get 8 hours of sleep, but in the end I could not fall asleep for 4 hours (was not really tired), and did sleep "somewhat" for the other 4 hours...I hate going to bed when I'm not tired, but if I go to bed when I'm tired, I would only get like 4-5 hours of sleep, annoying.
Anyways, I can tell that I did not sleep much, because I do not feel that good, will be getting some coffee and chicken broth.
At least it's friday, so I will be getting great sleep tonight for sure.
Oh, my muscles are "hurting", so that's a good sign I guess!

Finally weekend, will be getting some sleep soon, had shrimp, chicken and mushrooms today. Protein was about 135gr.
Tomorrow I will be basically a week into the diet, so I think I will weigh/measure myself after waking up.
Im excited about the results of weighing. Before I started this diet, I was heavy on carbs/eating dirty for a week earlier, so I think I should have lost quite a bit of weight, a lot of it will be water too, because of the dirty eating the week before the diet.

Weigh-in after a week into the diet. January 5th, 2013
Just did the weigh in and measured myself,
Weight today: 85,2kg / 188lbs. Weight at start: 93,6kg / 203lbs / -8,4kg / 15lbs
Waist at start: 106cm. Waist today: 102,5cm / -3,5cm
Chest at start: 103cm. Chest today: 102cm / -1cm
Thigh at start: 60cm. Thigh today: 59cm / -1cm
Arm at start: 37cm. Arm today: 36cm / -1cm
The weight drop is crazy, but consider, I have been eating VERY bad for a week before the diet, like i mentioned yesterday(was low-carb before that), so I must have gained TONS water, which is all out now, so I think the realistic loss would be something like 7-8lbs.
Anyways, I am happy with the result so far, and it feels good to be on the right way, even though I still have ways to go.
Will continue to go strong at this!
Take care guys (if anyone is reading ).

Was a good day, protein around 125gr, had chicken and shrimps with mushrooms.
I had some cravings today/still have them, I think the reason was, that its the weekend and I was hanging out at home all day, and my mind was not that occupied.
So I should keep myself busy on weekends, meeting a friend tomorrow, that should help. Will take my food with me of course.
Gonna watch some Dexter, and get some sleep afterwards, later.

Had a fun day, ate some shrimp with mushrooms and had 2 big casein shakes.
A question guys,
I want to switch away from the casein shake, because of the artificial sweeteners in it, and I found an alternative that uses stevia as a sweetener, but the problem is, the product with stevia is whey.
So I always read that casein is better for dieting compared to whey, do you guys think this will make a big difference, if I have a whey shake instead of casein shake?
They whey is the only source of a protein powder that uses stevia, I could not find any other here in europe. I envy you guys in america, you have so much protein powders that use stevia.
Would be cool if someone can help me out, thanks.

Face is getting leaner, jeans ist noticeable looser, glad to see the efforts are worth it!
Had a casein shake and chicken today, so all went after plan,
130gr protein
5gr carbs
6gr fat
Unfortunately the stevia whey is not available for another week, so I guess I will have to use the casein, at least until then.
Would stll love some input from you guys, about the whey/casein question.
Other then that, I'm excited for the next weigh-in on saturday, and it also helps just weighing myself once a week, because I used to be too obsessive about the scale.
Will be working out tomorrow again, actually looking forward to it.
Take care!

So I got myself the whey with stevia (they came in today, but only the 5lbs ones). I took a risk and bought the 5lbs one with cherry taste, and man, this stuff is actually really good, no artificial taste, rather very mild and not too sweet, and I only use water to mix.
It has 7,5gr of carbs per 100gr, I can live with that.
Mad happy about it lol, now I won't have to worry about artificial sweeteners anymore.
Diet is going very well so far, cravings got weaker, and I feel like I have a lot more energy and I am also more focused. I know that seems weird on such low calories, but it is how it is, so I am not complaining.
Looking forward to the day, where I can start eating at maintenance, all that tasty keto food.
Will be doing the full body workout in a few minutes, laters!

hey man, great job on your progress! Why don't you join a gym? I think that will be very beneficial. You can also try looking at the stronglifts 5x5 program but make sure somebody teaches you good form. Good luck!

Thanks man! I have most of the stuff at home, and since I'm only supposed to do 2-3 full body workouts on this diet, I will be starting slowly from home, and to be honest, it's pretty convenient.
But I know a gym would be better, and I will join one for sure soon!
I will look into the 5x5 program right now, thank you.
Little report on the diet, everything is going well, my jeans are even more loose now, also I can see that my moobs and love handles are getting less. These are the spots where most of the fat is, so I have this "hourglass shape", but I will get rid of this!
Still feels kind of unreal, 1 year ago I used to be 300lbs.
It's crazy how different everything is, once you are around the "normal" weight area, or at least on the way to getting there. So much has changed in this past year, because of it, and I'm not even done yet.
A few friends want to go the clubs this weekend, I never did that often, but I'm excited about how it will go. Won't be drinking any alcohol of course, just water with lemon.Last edited by GTO91; 01-10-2013 at 01:36 AM.

Day was fine, can't wait for the weekend, especially because I will get good sleep. Also very excited for the weigh-in on saturday!
Also note to myself: I have to keep myself busy on the weekend, because I get the most hungry on weekends. Small things like taking a walk should help, will be working out on saturday or sunday too.

Got back from the club, it was ok, nothing special, I realize that I don't really enjoy it that much, you can't really talk to anyone, I prefer a bar.
Maybe it was the wrong club, most of the people were like 16-18, and I'm 21. The music was Taio cruz, Nikki Minaj etc. , I can't enjoy that at all.
Tomorrow I'm invited to a birthday, there will be some girls around too, hopefully we will got to some nice bar or something like that.
I have to say though, I felt much more confident, because of the lost weight, and I could tell that girls were making eye contact and so on.
Ok enough personal stuff.
About the diet for the day, man, it was hard. Everybody kept telling me to drink some alcohol, like every 5 minutes (They don't know I'm doing this strict diet, and I did not tell either).
But in the end I stayed strong, had my whey shake, drank only water, so it's all good. Will get some sleep soon, hyped for the weigh-in.

Weigh in after 2 weeks into the diet, January 12th.
Weight last week: 85,2kg / 188lbs. Weight today: 83,2kg / 183lbs / -2kg / 4,5lbs
Waist last week: 102,5cm. Waist today: 101,5cm / -1cm
Chest last week: 102cm. Chest today: 101cm / -1cm
Thigh last week: 59cm. Thigh today: 57cm / -2cm
Arm at start: 36cm. Arm today: 36cm / +/- 0cm
Very happy about the result so far, another 2kg down!
Have not done a single cheat or refeed, and not planing too, because it seems, that the diet works fine (so far) without them.
I want to get under 80kg before January is over, I think that should be doable.
My hunger is almost gone, so I'm sure im adapted to ketosis right, and man, does it feel good.
It may sound crazy, but I'm feeling better on this diet compared to the "balanced" diet I tried (more calories, much more carbs), so low/no carb is the way to go for me.
But I'm not gonna lie, can't wait to be over with this, and start eating all the keto stuff, especially cheese.Last edited by GTO91; 01-12-2013 at 08:49 AM.

Last night was fine, resisted all the temptations, just had my whey shake.
A friend of mine will be going to america the next week, I told him to bring me some quest bars (100% natural line, sweetened with stevia), I hope he can find them, I ordered 1 pack (12 bars) of each flavor, the macros for these bars are friggin' awesome, they even fit into my PSMF(1 bar a day).
Did anybody try them yet? If yes, how did you like them? I only read very good reviews about it.
Will be more active too, next week my football(soccer) practice is starting again, looking forward to it!

Today was weird, I could really feel how my mind was trying to trick me into eating more. I was thinking stuff like "I could eat more fat today, I won't store any of it because I'm eating no carbs, right?.
I KNOW that this is just a cheap excuse to eat more, and somewhat wishful thinking, that I could eat unlimited food, if I have 0 carbs, but sometimes your mind plays tricks on you.
So I read studies/logs/threads etc. for hours about this topic, just to teach my mind, that there is no way around this suffering from this diet.
And it helped, found TONS of great research about this, and the conclusion is, if I eat too much, I will store it as fat.
After that I looked into refeeds, which I did a lot before, and I tried to be as objective as possible. I'm still fat, there is no reason to refeed right now, I have to lose at least another 20-25lbs, to be considered somewhat lean. So the body has enough fat in the storage which it can make use of. I lost 5lbs/2kg last weigh-in, so the weight is dropping just fine also. As as you can see, there is no good reason to refeed right now(there is a bad reason, satisfying my cravings, which is not an option for me), and I hope my mind will accept this.
Anyways, I did not give in, I knew this diet would not be easy, so I will stay strong, and be successful!
I have to remember that this state won't be forever. Once I'm done, I can eat more calories and have more variety. Thinking about this helps me to get this done.
Had chicken, shrimps and mushrooms today.
650kcal
130gr protein
10gr fat
8gr carbs
Good night.Last edited by GTO91; 01-13-2013 at 04:50 PM.

It's been a good day, keeping busy at work helps a lot on this diet. Just had my last meal for today (10pm already in here), chicken with mushrooms and some tabasco. Will be getting some sleep soon, tomorrow my soccer practice starts again, can't wait!
Have been lurking a lot in other cutting-logs today (shoutouts to Cowmustard ), will do that much more from now on, it's motivational to read them/write with people, and it makes me feel less "alone" on this whole diet thing.
Take care guys!Last edited by GTO91; 01-14-2013 at 01:08 PM.

we're a pretty tight pack in the keto log section man. Check out jaxlifter, psihco, jcpryor, yabby and some other bb.com challengers logs as well man, good stuff is happening!!!
but yes, it is statisically shown that associations of people with a common goal have some amazing results on the individual.Myfitnesspal Cowmustard

Sounds great, I will look into their log for sure.
I'm feeling great today, and I had great sleep also, that might be the reason.
Face seems a bit leaner too.
There is a voice in the back of my head, that keeps telling me "weigh yourself, you might not be loosing weight", but I won't give in, only 1 weigh-in each week (saturday).
I'm just a bit paranoid about that sometimes, and think that my weight loss has suddenly stopped, but that makes no sense, since I'm at such a huge deficit. My mind just wants to sabotage me I think.
Pumped for soccer this evening!

Yeah, it's bad, and I will try to get rid of this thinking.
Just got back from soccer practice, went well, was a bit slippery because of some snow, but fun!
Macros for the day,
150gr protein
10gr carbs
12gr fat
Had a little bit more protein then planed(usually its between 120-130gr), the last piece of chicken breast was a bit too big to fit my usual macros, but if I would have not used it, I would have to throw a bit of into the garbage, so I cooked all of it.
Well 20gr more protein won't do any harm.
Progress is happening, gotta be patient.
Still have my problem areas, love handles, moobs, stomach, legs. This is where the most fat is, I have really really unfortunate fat distribution, especially the moobs and love handles are terrible.
Anyways, that is what I'm doing the diet for!
