I ate 15 the other night. In my defense they were small. My husband thought he was going to get one.
Him: "can I have a wing?"
Me: "I ate them."
Him: "you ate ALL 15 of them?!?!?"
Me: "I don't understand the question."
Some of us mere mortals have to count and cut back calories to drop body fat.

That was a number from the air. If I want to lose it probably won't be much over that. If you want to lose you don't over consume. That means eating under maintenance consistently. You're talking about needing to eat quite a lot to gain just one pound. I get that but i'm talking about losing. Two different things.

I agree about over consuming but eating and losing is the same concept .. cut 3500 calories and you have lost a lb if you cut that in a week it will be more drastic than if you do it in a month
hence it's irrelevant if today you went over your calorie limit by 3-400 calories if you are consistently cutting calories.. it's 10% of 1 lbwho says love has to be soft and gentle ?

You are talking about one day. If you go over once no big deal. That's what I would call a cheat meal. If I go over on purpose it's a cheat meal. What I eat on any given day and stay within my goal is irrelevant to me. That to me isn't cheating. A burger isn't cheating. A burger that causes me to go over my goal is.

I suppose not everyone knows.... (What do you mean you don't follow my EVERY comment?!?!)
This is why I choose to try to live on 1500 calories:

Ahh ... so if your goal is to drop 10 lbs and your maintenance calorie requirement is say 2000 calories , anything below that is a cut right ?
so if you purposely decide to cut to 1500 calories, to cheat you'd have to eat at least 500-600 calories over right , do you realize how minuscule of a difference that makes unless you do that all the times consistently ?
my point is counting/worrying about it day by day is counterproductive because even if you go over 800 calories for that day you may have gained no more than 4oz
in the long run this is totally irrelevant however in the case of Wtuttle who's trying to meet a short term goal that could be relevant ..
ok that makes more sense but I still wouldn't call it a cheat meal there are no cheat meals there's only overeating .
even with the wings you still have room for food .. 600 calories ? no problem eat low calorie food so that your "cheat meal" is no longer a cheat but just a part of your diet
you can cut on any food even cake and wings..
If some people chose to live on steamed broccoli and
dry chicken that's their prerogative but it's fueled by ignorance I prefer a varied diet with lots of foods that I love so that
eating is never a burden that I need a half a brownie once a week to keep my sanity and justify it by calling it a cheat meal
Again I am talking about average people not someone getting ready for a contest like youwho says love has to be soft and gentle ?

1500 calories is what I am doing. For my cut. Effin Fitnesspal says I should be at 1300! Keep in mind BW that your a man and have 40-60lbs on us. 1500 for YOU, would be starving.
Edit: Sometimes I post things on here and then facepalm myself. Sorry BW. As if you needed me to tell you that.Last edited by Fawnl; 01-17-2013 at 12:26 PM.

I saw this video on fb last night, and laughed until I cried. It may not be as funny if you haven't done a comp prep, idk. This "food/calorie counting" talk made me think of it. Most of this chit is so spot on for that final week of prep.
Is MB around? He may get a kick out of it.

I'm going to figure out how to make this work. Srs. I am one of those people that need variety, and too feel like I have "indulged". 600 cals of low-cal food: I'm thinking mostly veggies here.
I always see people write/say this, but it's true. There's no reason for me to feel like I'm in prison

Oh no don't get me wrong I am considering gender.. but 1300 is downright ridiculous unless you are in a wheelchair and have 0 activity level.
That level of cut (1300) is unnecessary for most normal females who work out , you can run a car without oil sooner or later your engine will burn out, if you want to recover from training you need fuel .
Remember that when you cut you lose muscles , when you cut aggressively you lose even more muscles and you end up going from chubby to skinny fat, then you look in the mirror and want abs but they aren't there because
you lost muscle tone during your cut
The best diet is not a "diet" but good eating habits, something that you do without feeling deprived all the times and are able to keep doing without emotional stress.. that is for average people
for bikini models, bbers etc.. it's taken to an extreme for obvious reasons .
I was almost 165 just a couple of months ago so I was only 22lbs more than you I was still losing weight at about 2200 calories a day give or take, it's not the extra bw but the amount of muscles and
dat there testosterone combined with lifestyle etc..
If you are cutting at 1500 and are happy with it then more power to you and if you can do it without major food restrictions even better , I prefer that route so when I cut I just eat less
instead of having seconds and eating 4 eggs with 4 strips of bacon and 2 slices of toast in the morning I will eat half of that , that's a huge calorie cut without giving up anything major ..
Exactly my point , but you have a short term goal and are already pretty lean so you might have to take on extreme measures
just remember you don't have to eat bland boring food all the times just watch your portions .
Some people don't care about food in general, they treat it as fuel so eating bland boring food it's ok but don't think just because they do it and works everyone must follow their examplewho says love has to be soft and gentle ?

Ignore MFP... have you recalculated your calories using the stickies? I cut at about 1700. I dropped to 1600 at one point and did not cope well. I'm not really prepared to give up tea, coffee etc and I generally eat normal meals. I was better for me mentally to come in under my 1700 goal if I had a good day, rather than always coming in over my 1600 limit.
EDIT: What BW said!!

I could barely get my nutrients in today, and I could barely get through my workout today, wondering if I am fatiguing my body too much.

I'm playing hooky tomorrow! Okay, I asked my boss today if I could have tomorrow off, and he said yes, so it's not exactly hooky, but it was a surprise day off. So I'm excited.
