    Behind the back shoulder raises

    When doing dropsets on weighted dips after the bodyweight becomes to heavy is it okay to use dumbbells and finish with shoulder raises behind the back?

    mind = blown
    Are you doing weighted dips for your chest or triceps? I'm not seeing how shoulder raises will help you finish off what the dips started.

    Do you mean shrugs? Pretty hard to do behind the back shoulder raises...unless you dislocate your should I guess.

    They don;t even work the same muscles.

    I was doing the weighted dips for triceps. In the movement, the elbows come up to a 90 angle and then the arms pushed into a straight line by the sides. In the dumbbell exercise, I was thinking of moving the arms up to a 90 degree angle and then pushing the arms down. A kickback without the extension?

    If he means something like http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...DeltRaise.html with dumbbells, you can do them and it's a fine move, but it doesn't hit the same muscles that dips do.

    I don't know what the hell you're talkling about with this other exercise but anyway, the point of a strip-set (which is what I'd call what you're talking about rather than a drop-set) is to go down and down on the same exercise until you can do no more. I don't see the point in switching when you can't do any more to a totally different exercise. Plus there is no exercise I can think of involving dumbbells which can replace dips. It seems to me physically impossible unless you're just doing something totally different in which case it's not a strip set.

    Yeah, you can do shrug dips after dips. I don't know why you would do them behind the back.
