When doing dropsets on weighted dips after the bodyweight becomes to heavy is it okay to use dumbbells and finish with shoulder raises behind the back?

I was doing the weighted dips for triceps. In the movement, the elbows come up to a 90 angle and then the arms pushed into a straight line by the sides. In the dumbbell exercise, I was thinking of moving the arms up to a 90 degree angle and then pushing the arms down. A kickback without the extension?

If he means something like http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...DeltRaise.html with dumbbells, you can do them and it's a fine move, but it doesn't hit the same muscles that dips do.

I don't know what the hell you're talkling about with this other exercise but anyway, the point of a strip-set (which is what I'd call what you're talking about rather than a drop-set) is to go down and down on the same exercise until you can do no more. I don't see the point in switching when you can't do any more to a totally different exercise. Plus there is no exercise I can think of involving dumbbells which can replace dips. It seems to me physically impossible unless you're just doing something totally different in which case it's not a strip set.
