Looking good in here Eric. How's the shoulder been doing lately?

That was it for today. I did something bad to my right shoulder on the 215 bench set. It popped really hard right behind the top of the joint between the middle and rear delts. I thought it was fine as it only hurt for a minute or two, but by the last set it was hurting pretty bad. The Oly bar curls didn't hurt very much, but the hammer curls were too painful to continue. I will ice it down tonight and hope for the best, but it is hurting pretty bad right now. This entire week has been brutal for me, nothing has went right all week. Not complaining, just stating it. Hopefully things will turn around tomorrow and I will have a better week, this rut is getting old . I weighed 162 this morning after being right on track with my diet all week, The stress may have hindered my progress I guess. Today was refeed day and I took advantage of it even though I haven't lost weight this week. Today's foodEric

Oh I'm sorry to hear about the right shoulder, 3 steps forward 2 steps back...take it easy! You did a lot of work on the BP's.
I hope you have a better week this week and that whatever is causing you so much stress is resolved soon. Nice song and some powerful lines. Keep your spirit up Eric!
The Gym Managers have been frantically trying to contact me since my membership is at the end of it's life. I ended up telling them to shoot through their prices/offers and bank details via email so I can wire them the money. They seemed gobsmacked I guess they are used to grovelling, crawling on hands and knees whilst kissing our feet Dayum, this chick is too easy lol.

Nice volume on that benching Eric and getting a lot stronger, but bad luck about that shoulder pain. I'd ice it tonight, take some ibuprofen and take it easy for a few days. I'm sorry that the week has been so sh!tty but hopefully things will pick up from here

Thanks Louise. Today has not went well either unfortunately. I can't seem to do anything right for the past week or so. Spirit is still good though, I am hard headed and hard to break . You should have made the gym suffer for a while and see if you couldn't get a better deal on the membership dues.
Thanks Andrew. The crappy week isn't over it seems, but it has to end sometime. I loaded up on Ibuprofen last night and iced the shoulder, I couldn't sleep at all and finally around 3:00 am I came down and slept in the recliner with my arm in a sling. I got about 3 hours of sleep anyway.
It still hurts today, but nothing compared to last night. Not sure what I did to it, but will try to deadlift a little later, not sure how it will go.
Thanks cmoore, hopefully it wasn't an injury, and just a twinge that needs a few days to heal. I will report back after the deadlift attempt. Pulling doesn't hurt that much, but it may with some heavy weight.Eric

Hopefully it's just a small soft tissue strain. The deads shouldn't really be a problem, so go kill it today Eric, then maybe take it easy on the pressing for a week or two

I failed at hitting the numbers this week so next week will be my first do over in this program. I felt like crap afterwards and didn't do any Ab work today either. I have got to shake the crappy luck I have been having lately. I worked on the truck all day and got absolutely nowhere with it either. I installed a new carb, to go with the new wiring, distributor, coil, ignition box etc. Once I tried to start it there was a fuel leak, it is coming from the intake gasket. So I stopped there and will add a new intake/exhaust gasket next weekend. I also replaced a drain in my bathroom sink that had a slow leak for a few weeks, it leaked worse after I replaced it the first time, so I tried to tighten it a little more and broke the whole assembly. Second attempt last night and I thought it was fixed, but the wife informed me this morning that it was leaking again. I fixed it again today and so far no leaks. I weighed 162.5 this AM, but should be able to drop a little of that in a couple of days. Today's diet wasn't great, but I stayed under on calories. Today's foodEric

Sorry about the sh!tty luck Eric, but I'm so jealous of your deads that I don't feel too sorry
I had trouble with a 352 dead today and you got a 430 single and 345 x 8, and that's at 162lbs

Props and support brother.
Word of advice. If you're like me at all, hug your wife and kids a lot. The last few percent loss on a cut does strange things mentally and little things can blow off the handle very easily. It's just so easy to get angry. Hang in there and know once you hit your goal a maintenance diet washes all that away."I'm not a Ninja, but I played one on TV." -cmoore, American Ninja Warrior (ANW 7,8)

Thanks Andrew. I knew I would have a miss week sooner or later on that program, was just hoping it would be later. Last week I hit 420x2 with ease and didn't see this week being an issue. I suppose I could have dropped a few of the warm-up reps or even a whole set, but either way I was supposed to have an off week to rest this coming week, and I will use it for the do-over.
Thanks cmoore, the demons haven't been much of an issue lately, the weight loss hasn't been happening either though. I may need to lower the calories again slightly, but will give it some more time. I am not one to fly off the handle usually. I am more of the type to just get frustrated and slightly depressed in this type of situation. I feel great though, just can't seem to shake the bad luck. I know I will get past it soon and try not to worry about it too much. If the weight doesn't start to move soon I may go up to a maintenance level for a month or so to try and reset, then jump back on the cut. Thanks for the support.Eric

That was it for today. I was going to video the underhand rows from behind to see what it looked like on my back, but my camera has seemed to bite the dust. I can really feel them in my lats better than the overhand rows and plan to keep them in the rotation. I kept it fairly light today and expected that the tricep exercises may irritate the shoulder, but they did not bother it at all. However I tried a set of pull-ups and they didn't feel right in the shoulder so I abandoned them. Diet is back on track today (it is always easy on work days). Today's foodEric

Thanks Andrew. I am feeling them today for sure.
Thanks Hammie. The underhand rows seem to hit my lats better. Could just be that I use a narrower grip with the underhand rows though. I feel the overhand rows more in the spinal erectors and upper/middle of my back, as well as in my rhomboids and rear delts.
Off today. Had a long day at work, but diet was good today. Today's foodEric

You're killing it in all your workouts Eric! And that is despite the failed attempts on a few reps at 430 on deads. It will come, you are always in such a rush
You must have been really pushing yourself towards the end of your workout, squats can sap your energy!
Hope the luck has finally changed. Focus on the positives
And, yeah I suppose I could have tried bargaining with the membership price but somehow I don't think they would have budged anyway..

Thanks! The shoulder is feeling better, but needs a little break I believe to heal up.
Thanks Louise. I hated to miss a lift on the mag[ort deadlift program since it is my best/favorite lift. I assume it was going to happen sooner or later though and I will do this session over next week and move on from there. I actually felt really good last night and could have done a little more but felt it best to stop while I was ahead with the way my luck has been lately. I hope I am about past this bad spell.Eric

Today was supposed to be Shoulder day, but after trying a set of OHP's with just the bar I decided to take today off and give the shoulders a break. After just a few reps with the bar my right shoulder was already giving me some pain and I assumed most any shoulder exercise would do the same. It feels better now, just still a bit tender. I was up at 2:30am this morning with some severe storms and no power. Couldn't get back to sleep and had went to bed at 11:30pm so just a few hours sleep. I had to manage breakfast with a PB&J sandwich and a protien shake with the power out. Today's food I went over slightly on the diet today and haven't weighed in a few days since the batteries died in my digital scales. I will replace the batteries tomorrow and see where I am.

Sorry to hear about the shoulder injury. Sounds like you are doing the right things to get back to healthy and not make it worse. I find when you're in a calorie deficit injuries take even more time to heal.

That was it for today. I tried to take it easy on the shoulder and keep the weight a little light. Funny the benchpressing didn't really bother it, but I tried a set of Hammer curls and the right arm was a no-go on those. I couldn't even hammer curl 15 pounds with my right arm without severe pain. Today was my refeed day too and I made good use of it. I weighed 162 even this morning so no change again this week. My deficit calories seem to have become my maintenance calories. Today's food I don't think I could survive on less calories than I have been eating through the week, not mentally anyway so I may not reach my goal of 8% BF this time around. I do plan to stay where I am though throughout the summer.Eric

Sorry to hear the shoulder is acting up on you, at least you can still bench without issue. I agree upping the cals a tad tends to do good things for the body. Olive oil heals all. The most recent pics you've been posting look great IMO, looks like a very successful cut even if you didn't quite hit the 8%.

Nice work in that last session.
Interesting observation Eric, you're shoulder injury is unusual.. do you think it is a stability issue? You will really feel it in the socket rather than a muscle. It's a horrible pain that lingers even at rest and can take a whole night to ease off. Just aggravating the shoulder with the same movement starts it off again. Hopefully it's just soft tissue.
May be stay away from the curls for a little while, it obviously needs more time. Here's to a full recovery!.
